Wtf has happened to my eyelashes?

Wrong side of 50, don't wear make up on a day to day basis (time mainly) but in my younger days wouldn't go out of the house with my long, mascara'd beautiful eyelashes and a bit of lippy.

Going out with DH for a meal tonight and decided to put on some mascara but my eyelashes are short, stumpy and no amount of mascara is helping 🙃

Do eyelashes disappear along with the hormones, ability to diet, self confidence and the rest of the delights of menopause?

I am definitely too old for falsies, I have never worn them and 55 is too late to start!

Sadly they do! I find most mascaras make mine look worse but I do like Clinique Lash Power or 1999 from Space NK

I recently bought some EL double wear mascara and it's a revelation, eyelashes look long and full instead of short and stubby

I’ve found my self confidence has rocketed! I take absolutely no shit.

Anyhow, on the eyelashes. Mine are same length but definitely more sparse. Been recommended collagen supplement by a friend, as it seemed to really work for her.

Had the same problem, bought revitalash - hideously expensive but applying most nights a tube lasts me over 12 months and has restored my lashes length.

blackcherryconserve · 25/05/2024 18:43

Definitely very sparse now 😢

SuperDupe · 25/05/2024 18:44

Thanks, it sounds like I might need to invest in a decent mascara rather than Max Factor (which I have used for years).

I wish my confidence would sky rocket. I also don't take any shit, but I feel and look like such a frump these days, and not even looking ok with mascara on is pretty depressing.

UK Lash REALLY works….it lasts ages, put it on at night before bed, my friends lashes grew so much they were touching her glasses! They do serum for eyebrows too! https://www.uklash.com/collections/eyelash-serums

A light smear of vaseline on your eyelashes at helps keep the condition and stops breakages. I've tried The Ordinary product but it's had no real effect sadly.

You can have individual lashes applied at a beautician but it's a short term solution.

Cadela · 25/05/2024 18:49

You need cluster lashes! I am appalling at applying normal strip lashes but these I can do in 30 seconds each eye and they look amazing.

There is good YouTube videos on how to apply, but you basically apply them under your lashes rather than over and it covers all mistakes.

Honestly they’ve been a game changer, I’d never pay for extensions but these last for ages and look so natural, no one can tell.

I’m a big fan if you couldn’t tell 😂

GogAndMagog · 25/05/2024 19:25

@Cadela please share the product and video! 🙏

I really recommend revitalash- expensive but worth every penny! My lashes are now incredibly long & thicker. Give it a go

ZazieBeth · 25/05/2024 20:45

A tiny little bit of castor oil rubbed on them morning and night is helping mine. Took about 6 weeks to see the difference but it’s really helping (same with eyebrows)
