Can anyone please recommend a really good foundation to give good coverage. Very red and bumpy all over right side of face. Also generally have combination skin.

Hi, my friend has rosacea and she has just found a foundation she raves about which covers the redness really well. Obviously she is in bed now and I can't call her to find out the name but will post it as soon as I get it.

I have rosacea and use Bare Essentials mineral makeup. It doesn't trigger my skin, covers the redness and evens out my complexion. Its not cheap, but its worth it! I totally recommend it.

(before I started using it I had people saying things like " ooh you need to use more suntan lotion" ummm no I don't, I have a skin condition. Jeeeeeeez. Now I actually get compliments!!! )

have you been to a dermatologist?

I went on Tues for my roseacea and have been put on ABs again but when I used them before the bumps and lumps did go down.

I also use the green cream stuff from No7 to lessen the redness and that really helps too.

I also carry round my concealer so I can touch it up every so often.

If I had one wish it would be to have beautiful clear skin.

I think I have it (as in, haven't been to the doctor's but seem to have all the symptoms), and I use the mineral foundation from Lily Lolo - I have combination skin too. They also do a green redness-reducing powder, which I like and use before the foundation.

Thanks for your replies everyone. i do use rosex gel and take antibiotics wihich at least evens out my skin although the redness doesn't go. I have just begun to get it under control but I think stress and a lot of spicy found has just caused a bit of a worse flare up. I use a moisturiser called Rosacea Blue which my mum gets for me where she lives in LA. It's quite pricey at $75 I think thats about £40 a tube but it really reduces the redness before I put on my makeup. Problem is despite what makeup I use my complexion still looks really uneven as my rosacea is just on one side of my face and because my skin is quite dry and thickened it looks even more scaly with foundation on. Mananny where do you get the Bare Essentials from? What is a mineral foundation? JackieNo do get an appointment with gp if you suspect rosacea it is essential to get it treated as early as possible to get the best possible improvement in your skin. Unfortunately for me it was initially misdiagnosed as psoriasis and then imetigo . I'm only 30 and i know there's people with far worse problems but sometimes I hate looking in the mirroe and don't want to leave the house, any other tips welcome. Thanks x

I feel the same Worry and hate looking at myself.

Speak to your dr about laser treatment as some areas have this covered on the NHS. My dermatologist told me that laser would work well for me but NHS wont pay for it in Berkshire.

I asked her if I had to be suicidal to get it for free but even that didnt work! (Im not suicidal but feel quite low about my skin on most days!)

A friend of mine had it done on the NHS when we were in Cheshire but now we are in Berkshire we have to pay! It really is not fair!

Would cost about £1000.

Hi I get the mineral make up from Sephora in the US. Its a very fine powder that you put on with a thick stubby brush, and you just put it on little by little til you have the desired coverage. My rosacea is concentrated on my cheeks and a bit on my t-zone and chin. Without makeup I look extremely sunburnt. I rarely get the pustules and bumps any more, I don't know if its the makeup or my skincare routine that's helping, but my skin is pretty smooth now with only the odd flare up if I overdo spicy foods or if the weather is too muggy. To cleanse my face I use Eucerin Redness Relief gel cleanser, its amazing stuff, cleans v well without making my face hot, tight and redder than it already is! Twice a week or so I use dermalogica's daily microfoliant to exfoliate gently. After a shower (which I keep fairly lukewarm) I spray my face with Avene thermal springwater and gently rub in two pumps of Aveda night nutrients oil which is suprisingly not at all greasy, it feels lovely and smooth and soothing. I do this in the morning and at night and so far, for the last year almost, my rosacea has not got worse. The overall condition of my skin (redness aside) has definitely improved.

I rarely use foundation any more but when I did I used L'Oreal's Cashmere perfect foundation. It's liquid but goes powdery when you put it on so has fairly good coverage, and feels quite smooth. Didn't irritate my skin at all.
