Styling this dress for the office?

Got a meeting in London next week. Just tried on this dress and it fits fine (thank god, I've put on some weight recently but it hides most of it 😂) and white trainers go nicely.

I want to smarten it up a bit with something over the top but unsure what? I tried a black blazer (it goes over the bum) which didn't really suit... any other ideas? Shorter black blazer maybe?

Stupid questions I know but I always work from home so never have to worry! Office you can get away with trainers if the rest of you is relatively smart...

Chinos, shirt and blazer is the smart end of smart casual and I would not wear a summer dress to a business occasion with all male colleagues who are wearing jackets. I would wear trousers, either wide leg and long or slim and ankle length, with a blazer and a smart t shirt or similar unfussy top and trainers.

I was just about to say exactly this. From the way you’ve described the meeting in your update, OP, there’s no way I’d be the only person in a frilly dress. I’d go for exactly what @PinkTonic has suggested.

These things are very personal and subjective though 😊

Yup - if you have suave European men in well cut smart casual clothes you’re going to look out of place in a flouncy frock.

You want a very plain and simple outfit as outlined above.

@PinkTonic has got it spot on, especially taking into account your update re: meeting attendees. I’d stay away from patterns/florals and fussy details and stick with solid colours.

Thanks guys, totally agree. Off to Next to see what they have!!
