Black dress to a wedding evening do

Hey! I'm going to the evening reception of a wedding, not the day event. It will be held in a swanky function room of a craft brewery, so I guess quite a cool venue for the youngsters! (I'm 50)

Is a black dress acceptable?

Ideally I'd like to utilise what is in my wardrobe , and a flowery dress just makes me feel very middle aged at a wedding! Dress code is classic wedding attire for day guests and "dress to impress" for evening.

I will try and get someone to discretely ask the bride but wanted to garner some opinions to see if it is a complete no no.

Hmm. You might get away with it as you're an evening only guest, but I still think you might stick out like a sore thumb a bit.
