What do I wear at HK client office?

I’ve never been to Hong Kong before - travelling at the weekend as we’ve just won some new work. I’m a senior director for a consulting company and the client is kind of a hybrid between public sector and a corporate. None of the women on the team have been on site yet so I can’t really ask them what the dress code is like and I don’t trust the guys to decode.

In the UK when I’m on client site I would wear a nice dress or wide trousers, top and a toning jacket. Haven’t worn a suit since pre covid or heels for years.

Is this going to be ok? Would be very grateful for any thoughts please ….

I think what you usually wear will be fine. I haven't been to an office in Hong Kong for many years but in the business/finance districts people tend to be dressed in basic/conservative business wear. Although it'll be quite warm and humid there now, just so you know for travelling to and from air conditioned places.

what you wear sounds fine. My advice would be slightly smarter than uk but also the aircon can be savage so a scarf can be useful .

I used to go to Hong Kong regularly for work and found the dress code to be the same as in the UK. I would typically weat a smart tailored dress and smart sandals for meetings.

One thing I would add is that I always found the Hong Kongers to be slightly more wrapped up. I assumed as it was hot people would be dressed in summer work clothes, but I can remember going to a meeting in what I would describe as heat wave summer weather in the UK and my HK colleagues wearing tights and jumpers. The air conditioning is pretty brutal.

The AC was very high in my HK office so always wore a blazer over a dress
