What shoes with this dress please?

I have committed the cardinal sin of buying a dress that I love, knowing full well I have no shoes that go with it....

Ideally, I would like to wear it for work, so need something that is smart, but not too strappy/open toes. I can manage a lowish heel, but probably would tend to a block heel for stability as my knees are not in good shape.

I also have bizarrely wide calves, so anything higher than an ankle boot is usually a challenge to fit as the ankles are then always baggy.

Size 6.5/7, not too narrow (some of the European brands tend to be on the narrow side - such a shame as there are some glorious shoes my pig trotters won't fit in).

Any help/ideas gratefully received Grin

Have you looked on M&S? They have wider fit options. You could go with a navy (assuming that's what the dress is) block court shoe. The boots the model are wearing go perfect,

I will have a look, thank you.

I know - the boots the model is wearing look fab…on her… not sure they will work for my chunky calves Blush

I think something in a nude colour would be great if you are genuinely worried about your calves - it’ll elongate your legs. Don’t have an ankle strap, it’ll make your legs look shorter and wider. maybe these ones from next? Available in a wide fit.

Personally with that dress I’d be looking at a suede cowboy boot style ankle boot in either a sandy colour or a metallic one assuming that fits the dress code for your work.

Dress is lovely and just about anything will go with it from ankle Boots black brown beige silver to a silver Pump or any sort of posh trainer, mule, black patent loafer. Anything.

Oblomov24 · 20/05/2024 06:25

Yes it's autumnal, but would work well with gold or silver.

@OchonAgusOchonOh its from Phase 8 Dani - I think they do something similar in different colours/patterns most years.

@Netaporter thanks for the suggestions. I had a browse on next and also found some cowboy boots in a tan colour that I love but not sure if the studs would make the whole look a bit fussy?

@Oblomov24 yes it is a bit autumnal, but part of the love for it was the price in the sale! Haha

the office air con is always freezing so I’m often feeling the need for sleeves!

I think they would look ace. I am always over dressed 😂 Even if technically you shouldn’t wear kaftans with massive norks I just think fuck it. Buy the shoes, wear the dresses/outfit that make you happy. People are drawn to smiley happy people - especially at work. We’re all a long time dead!
