What's your favourite foundation cream / lotion?

I have tried several over the years but still not found anything I love. I've sent off for some Charlotte Tilbury samples to try the shades.

My skin is mature, combination, not very wrinkled but a bit blotchy.

What are you using?

I no longer use foundation I'm 52, I use really good layers of skin prep/BB and the CBM eye concealer/colour correction. Then I use the powder foundation by Laura Geller

I meant I don't use a liquid foundation anymore, just doesn't work for my skin now

I keep going back to luminous silk by Armani.
The tinted moisturiser ones are a little greasy for me and don't last.
La Mer fluid foundation used to be my fav but I prefer the coverage I get the Armani .

Sculpted by Aimee second skin matte

Thanks for the replies. I haven't tried any of those yet.

I'm a similar age and skin type.I'm using clarins extra firming day cream and NARS pure radiant tinted moisturiser. Really like both used together or on their own.

DuploTrain · 19/05/2024 19:35

Another vote for NARS tinted moisturiser - I think it’s more of a light foundation than a tinted moisturiser despite the name.

Shetlands · 20/05/2024 11:26

Thanks for the suggestions - I haven't tried any of those either!

My skin is more dry than combination but I have been using the Trinny BFF foundation and it's really great. Very very lightweight and easy to apply.

I did get it colour matched at an actual Trinny concession in a department store - I think that makes a huge difference with whatever brand you buy.

Shetlands · 20/05/2024 11:49

Colour matching is something I should do properly. I've sent off for some samples because I live a long way from any department stores. It's probably 20 years since I was in one!

YSL's foundation and the Touche Éclat blur primer. The Trinny tinted moisturiser is also good.

Yes, it's really difficult if you don't have a good department store or a proper store handy. Some of the bigger Boots stores have good concessions with specially trained staff so if you've got one of those nearby, that might work.

Some brands like Clarins and Bobbi Brown can do it online. It's not perefct and I'm not sure how good it is for foundation (I've used it for lipstick mostly) but could be an option.

@DuploTrain - yep, I'd agree with you. I feel like it needs a moisturiser 1st. I really like the coverage & it makes my skin glow. I also use their blush & bronzer combo orgasm & Laguna 👌
