Is this outfit okay for a short grown woman?

Had this top delivered today and planned to wear it with wide leg trousers for a friends birthday day out.

However, the top is a bit see through and so I'm not comfortable wearing it for the intended day out.

I was about to send it back and decided to try with these shorts for wearing on holiday.

But I feel I maybe I don't look right. I'm 5ft 1, and I often feel like I dress too young, verging on dressing like a child. Not sure these shoes help with that either.

Or is it fine as a cheap, causal outfit holidays??

It is a lovely outfit. Definitely not child like.

I like it!

I wear loads of Bardot tops as I think they a flattering on me .. big arms, big tummy . They look particularly good with wide legged trousers ( well I think so !!)

mynameiscalypso · 17/05/2024 18:42

I'd probably wear it with flip flops or flat sandals personally but go for it, you like great!

giddy90 · 17/05/2024 18:43

It looks lovely Grin

Looks great on u

How old are u by the way? I would guess mid 20s based on that figure and so outfit fine for that age range

Yes, I actually really liked it with the trousers. But the material is just too thin for me to be comfortable wearing it around people I've never even met. I'll find a thicker one to wear with those.

I'm 41, hence my issue.

I think you look lovely. Not childlike at all.

Unforgettablefire · 17/05/2024 19:03

It's lovely wear it. It's not too young for you and you've a great figure 😁

dammit88 · 17/05/2024 19:06

Really nice - keep!

You definitely won’t look like a child if you’re 41…

WeightoftheWorld · 17/05/2024 19:10

Looks lovely and I know plenty of people your age who dress similarly. Enjoy yourself!

You look absolutely amazing. A flesh-coloured bra might make you feel less concerned about it being slightly see-through whereas a black bra could add “a point of interest” as the bra fitter once cheekily remarked to me in M & S. Keep it and have fun.

Woman2023 · 17/05/2024 19:15

Looks good!

effoffwind · 17/05/2024 19:27

Looks lovely

Especially for holidays where no one really cares

You've got a great figure and can carry it off

Thank you.

I did try a nude bra, but it was an absolute no go. Black is definitely better with this material, but still visible.

Anyway, I've now added it to the "who cares" holiday pile.

Thanks all!

What about getting a strapless bandeau or boob tube type thin top to wear under it?

MountCaramel · 18/05/2024 10:34

Waistcoats worn as tops seem to be in right now, would you consider that?

Would look fab with wide legged trousers and a stylish alternative to the bardot top.
