Dress for an August wedding

I bought a dress for BIL’s wedding in the winter sales and now I’ve gone off it.

I’m 5ft 10, size 10 but with a slight tummy. Good legs. Light olive skin.

Please help as I’ve gone all indecisive.

What's put you off it?

You give no context, @MinnieMountain!

Level of formality - cathedral / barn / beach?

Budget - £100 / £500 / £1000?

Your own style - avant-garde / Bombshell (RIP) / Joe Browns? Looking to impress, or ‘no one will notice me’?

Something purely for the occasion or something that will fit into your wardrobe after the event?

MinnieMountain · 17/05/2024 08:58

Sorry!

Budget: up to £120.

Church then a marquee on the happy couple’s field. But I’ve got plenty of pashminas for the church bit.

Ideally wear again. Happy to be noticed but not “look at me”.

Not yellow or orange (they don’t suit me).

My style is fairly plain- single coloured Boden dresses or patterned skirts with T-shirts.

The dress I’ve got is a 50’s style one from the Pretty Dress Company and I’ve worn a few like that for special occasions, so I’m hoping people here can help me find something different to my usual.

Green?

Pink Admittedly obviously cheaper.

More green.

Unfortunately you do get what you pay for - the Me and Em pink dress is lovely. Wait for the sales?

I’ve bought the Me & Em one. And I have no wedding to go to

but it is a little piece of summer perfection - so cheering. Couldn’t resist

Another poster just asked opinions on a dress from Abercrombie & Fitch, I've just been browsing off the back of her link and saw some nice dresses that would be in budget. No idea of quality, hopefully others can comment.

MinnieMountain · 17/05/2024 14:10

I really like the Reiss one. And the lilac And Other Stories.

Abercrombie & Fitch has a midi slip dress with a slit that would work.

Maybe I’ll order the Me & Em one just to see…
