Royal Ascot dress help needed

I have been invited to Royal Ascot and have never gone before. I have got a couple of dresses in mind but am not sure if they would be smart enough or not (I will be in the Royal Enclosure bit). These two are contenders:

Would they be OK? If not please can anyone suggest something else. I do want to look a bit cool and edgy and I don't think either of these are but was hoping to manage that with the right hat, shoes etc.

FFI: aged 50, 5'3", size 12, I suit colours with warm undertones (Dark Autumn colouring) but these two aren't really Autumn colours but I do love green and orange. Big patterns, big frills or big puffy sleeves don't suit me. My style is quite gamine, I think.

Buy Orange/Multi Spot Shirred Midi Dress | WHISTLES whistles.com. Animal prints are still at the fore of our minds as we enter the high summer season, and this chic dalmatian print dress is a must-have.

I think both dresses are really nice. The Whistles one is likely to fit better because of the shirred bodice (I have one of their shirred bodice dresses). My best advice is to wear comfortable shoes. You will really regret it if you wear Louboutins or similar.

I'm not a fan of red and pink. You really don't have to match shoes to hat. When my DD wore red, she wore a straw hat. Obviously not a beach style straw but it was a natural straw colour. They can be accessories with red if you want. I cannot remember the shoes but Hobbs have red ones. Straw bag with a handle could complete the look. Would you have a pink bag too?

Interesting DH is taking this seriously. Lots of men do but you will see some awful toppers. I'm sure he will avoid felt but he can have fun with a tie or waistcoat. Some men look amazing!

The Royal family have worn red and Charlotte Hawkins is a class act at Ascot. I've attached a few images.
