Home hair dye for redhead going grey 😭

I know the perceived wisdom is that redheads don’t go grey, but sadly this is not true for all of us! My hair has started going seriously grey on top, and the hair around the greys have gone this weird ashy brown which is really washing me out.

I’ve been to the salon once or twice, but it grows out so quickly and I can’t really afford to keep up with it. So - home dyes!

I need something really natural looking that is relatively easy to use and won’t destroy my hair. I’ve attached pics of what my natural colour was, definitely red but with a brownish tinge rather than super bright. It was actually ever so slightly darker than these pics but this is the closest I can find.

I am a bit scared of it ending up a weird fakey pinkish red. I’d be happy with semi-permanent as long as it covered my greys!!

Recommendations please and thank you 🙂

I've used this for years and think it is a good match for your natural colour:

It goes orange on red hair that's turned white, unfortunately. Does me, anyhow.

None of the colours are actually designed for hair that used to be naturally red, so they get you to the point of feeling ridiculous very quickly.

I've 'given up' now my natural colour has gone from Red Squirrel-Polished Conker to Dead Harvest Mouse. It's a step along the path to pure white.

This is something I’m a bit worried about - Ronald McDonald roots and two tone hair!! I do want to rock my natural grey but not for another 10 years or so. I love being a redhead and I’m not ready to let it go yet 😭
