Help me style this dress for sping/summer

Just bought this dress in the sale, I love it, and it looks fab with opaques and black loafers for work, but as the weather is warming up I would like to keep wearing it.

Any ideas what I can do to summer it up a bit? What shoes?

It is a light material, so won't be too hot in warm weather, its more the look.

It is just a shirt dress BTW, realise all the pics have a polo underneath

Is this a crazy idea?

I've been looking for reasons to buy these trainers for bloody ages. Would this work?

Trainers would work but also maybe some clogs or some Birkenstocks?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 21:17

Bare legs, no polo & sandals?

BranchGold · 10/05/2024 21:22

Yep, bare legs, and chunky sandals.

seeing some skin on your neck/chest would definitely make it appear lighter.

id even consider wearing a thin belt that I draped the top half of the dress over slouchily.

I think it’d look lovely with sandals in black, neutral or metallic and sleeves roll up. Those trainers are great too 😍.

Readmorebooks40 · 11/05/2024 11:26

Definitely black chunky sandals and roll up the sleeves to make them 3/4 length.

Cyclingmummy1 · 11/05/2024 11:29

I can't visualise it as anything but 'winter'.

RaspberryJammin · 11/05/2024 11:31

I think the doc Martin chunky type sandals would look lovely. Also a red mesh ballet flat for maybe a beachy day. For trainers I'd lean into the off white pattern detail on the dress with maybe some red detail on them to tie it together but not necessary.

The trainers from Russell and Bromley are an option too, just the brilliant white throws it off a bit but nothing majorly.

Hope I helped, that was a fun little break for me this morning so thanks for that :)

I couldn't either.

These ideas have helped a lot though. Will do some experimenting.

Thanks @RaspberryJammin I love those trainers.

I have these sandals already - you think they'd work?

Confused

Why not just try them on together?

Good point. Although I'm not very good at judging these things.

@Eminybob Definitely would look amazing with those sandals. And then add leather or denim jacket as fall comes by before you add the tights and biker boots again for winter. That's how I'd style it anyway, very versatile dress, I might have to pick one up seeming as it's on sale 😂

Thank you 😊

I have had my eye on it for ages, but it was out of stock in my size. I snapped it up as soon as it was back in.

It comes up big BTW, which I like but if you prefer more fitted I would size down.

I wouldn’t wear long sleeves in summer, could you roll them up to the elbow and team it with chunky jewellery and chunky black sandals and hair up. Otherwise it’s a bit oppressive and wintery.

Trinny would say tuck it in to White jeans or white lined trousers and make it look like a top. X

myusernamewastakenbyme · 11/05/2024 19:22

Id wear with a pair of tan or black wedges x
