Help, don’t know what to wear anymore

I’m 41 and size 8 but look MUCH bigger. I’m not tall and my body is longer than my legs so my proportions are weird.
I have about £1000 to spend on some new items for summer but don’t know where to even start. I’m casual at work so that’s ok - home / work are sort of as one.
I feel horribly out of touch and other people seem to look much better than I do.

Suggestions for items for a capsule type wardrobe gratefully accepted. I’d prefer fewer items of better quality than lots of items but cheaper.

Thanks.

Have you tried "wears my money" blog? She has great ideas for a capsule wardrobe.

Lilith is a French brand which issues capsule collections. This is their latest.

Try Sezanne. There isn't a single item I don't want!

For this summer, try a pair of cropped, wide leg linen trousers with Birkenstocks and a cropped blouse. I know you want better quality, but I've actually been impressed with New Look for the trousers.

What outfit do you throw on most often at the weekend currently?
