New make-up wearer looking for long-lasting SPF

Does a long-lasting SPF that sits well under make-up exist?!

I've only just started wearing make-up (finally, at almost 50) so this is the first summer that I've had to consider make-up and SPF. Previously I've used an 8 hour high factor and not had to worry about it.

Is there a good SPF that you can apply under make-up that means you're set for the day? Apologies if this is a stupid question or if there's something obvious I'm missing - I'm still rather baffled by the world of make-up at the best of times 😀

MTIA 🙂

I like the Boots 8 hour spf50 (brown tube) BUT you need to put it on and wait for at least 15mins before make up. Be warned, it's very shiny on its own! I then use the hawaiian tropic spf30 mineral powder to top up during the day. Its takes any shine away and also boosts my sun protection

Thanks so much for replying - I'll look into all this! Much appreciated 🙂

La Roche Posay Athelios. Really light, lasts all day, doesn’t feel like sunscreen

Ultrasun facial fluid is really good.

OP - what kind of skin do you have? I have combination skin with a shiny T-zone and swear by Eucerin 50 SPF, the matte version. I also quite like the la Roche posay one recommended by a PP and have had success with Vichy too.

Sorry for disappearing when people were kind enough to reply! Thank you all for your suggestions 🙂

@muddlingthrou I'd say my skin these days is normal to dry. It drinks in moisture, & youthful breakouts are long gone! No real skin issues or irritations though...

These days it's easy to find good facial sunscreen.
I use Garnier or L'Oreal SPF 50 for the face. There are various varieties. I just use whichever is on offer.

There are lots available, but how long do they last? I still haven't found a good 8 hour one that works well under make-up...
