Sun cream for prickly heat prone skin

Hi all,

I am trying to find a sun cream for my DS that doesn't clog his sweat pores and bring about prickly heat. I've read that the thick, oily, water-resistant types could be what's contributing.

Any recommendations?

Both my DS and I have this. Can really ruin holidays in hot places. Best solution I've found is to take an antihistamine every day you are going to be somewhere properly hot (there are several over the counter ones kids can take - ask in a pharmacy) and to try to keep covered up rather than use sun cream. So people like Speedo makes Sun-safe tops which stop you getting burnt and which you can swim in, etc, and wear a hat and sunglasses. All this minimises the need for thick lashings of sun cream. But I get him any kids sensitive skin one, ideally the roller ones as the layers go on more thinly.

@SummerInSun Thanks for clothing suggestions.

I've just ordered VICHY Capital Soleil Solar Protective Water Hydrating SPF50 and will give that a try.

You're likely right that avoiding sun lotions and covering up/staying out the sun is most beneficial in avoiding prickly heat.

We're relocating to a hotter climate so it would be good to find a lotion that is good to use when really necessary!
