What does a 40 year old wear for dinner and drinks

Size 12 and tall.. winter looks were something like a black t shirt and short leather skirt with thick tights and boots and a nice coat.
the weather looks like it will be nice and I’m not sure what to wear, is it warm enough for bare legs.. I want to impress my date but not look too try hard..
any advice greatly appreciated

Go with what you're happy and comfy in.
If hes in to you or really likes you hes not gonna be bothered with what you have on.
So just be yourself.

I think too warm for black tights and too cold for bare legs so it’s got to be trousers. Smart jeans and a sheer blouse? Long sleeve dress with leggings and flats?

I'm the same age, size and height as you! would go for a flowy dress and trainers look( it's gone very casual here in Ireland) or a jumpsuit trainsers/nice flats. Nice pair of jeans, white t-shirt, blazer and chunky jewellery can be lovely too.

I have a pair of thermal leggings that I cut in to shorts that are mid thigh length. I wear them under floaty dress and I am bare from the knee down. Makes a huge difference for warmth.
Personally I would wear a dress, trainers and jacket.

White t shirt in your preferred shape. Tan suede mini skirt. Whatever you like on your feet - something a bit more summery than big black boots. Mules or clogs maybe.

Last time I went out I wore a longish shirt dress and trainers.

But the OP wants to look like herself! And her Winter wardrobe sounds very confident - she just needs a Summer version of that.

I would wear a midi dress with some chunky sandals or trousers with top. Depends how casual you like to be.

Ah wow, thank you everyone so much for the replies..someone said about the tan skirt and white top and that is actually what I was probably going for.. just the bare leg issue…
I do like the idea of jeans and blazer but finding new jeans is tricky and mine don’t make me feel brilliant..

For my (imaginary😁) date, I would wear wide leg trousers or carrot cropped jeans & an unusual top/blouse. I would wear dr martens sandals. If it was really hot, I would wear a floaty cotton midi dress with big pockets in a nice print (no flowers).

That leather skirt should be about mid thigh to above the knees. I love when a woman picks out leather items on their own. Its a statement piece that catches our attention quickly. I particularly love leather on a woman and bootcut 5 pocket leather trousers are my favorite
