In July? I’m mid 30s, I have no idea as I don’t do anything since becoming a mum!

Honestly, you’ll get the full range at the theatre, from jeans / t-shirts to suits/smart dresses. Wear whatever you’re comfy in!

My go-to for stuff like this is always wide legged trousers, a nice strappy top (should be warm in July!) with a denim or leather jacket for if it gets chilly on the way home. And either nice flat sandals or "dressy-ish" trainers (Veja, Stan Smith etc). And dress it all up with jewelry and nice hair and make up 😊

I'd wear smart casual. Depending on how big an occasion it is for you personally, you can veer towards either end of smart casual.

If it's in the West End, the streets, tubes, theatre will be crowded. I'd be minded to wear closed toe shoes.

It's weather dependent but I'd probably wear a casual summer dress with a casual jacket or trousers (not jeans), a smartish T shirt or casual blouse and casual jacket.

Most west end theatres don't have air con. If it's v hot, an old fashioned fan wouldn't go amiss.

Cross body bag to make sure your wallet, etc, are safe from dippy fingers.

Have a lovely time.

Where are you eating? Somewhere smart or more casual? I'd let your outfit choices be guided by that.

I don't think you need to worry about what to wear in the theatre - layers to some extent as you want to be able to adjust to whatever the temperature is inside. A lot of West End theatres do actually have air-con but they may switch it off during the show if it is too noisy. It depends on the type of show! As @Peonies12 says you will see a whole range of outfits.

@Starlight1979's outfit sounds good as a starting point.

This sounds perfect

Yes it's always stuffy and usually the seats are so cramped together and low!

Thank you so much for the suggestions! X

Anything at all, as long as it’s comfy. You don’t want to be scratched or squeezed or adjusting things in the theatre.

Last time I went to the west end in summer I wore a pair of wide leg trousers, t shirt and sandals, denim jacket and cross body bag.

Have an amazing time - what are you seeing and where are you eating (always after inspo!)

Sandwichgen · 08/05/2024 17:53

Can’t go wrong with wide-legged trousers and a silk shirt
