Old dry coloured hair ! Help

I’m 55 with shoulder length hair that I regularly have coloured (only the roots!) and I wash my hair every 2-3 days using redken all soft shampoo and conditioner, I’ve tried other brands and always revert to this big my problem is hair gets very dry and straw like a week after colouring.
i am looking for recommendations for hair masks / treatments - i have tried OWay which smelt nice but did little- olaplex doesn’t seem to do much either currently looking at Philip Kingsley elastizer it’s pricey but happy to invest ! Anyone tried it ? I blow dry my hair and straighten so maybe a recommendation of a styling heat product would help too as I put in beauty pie wonder oil when it’s wet currently !

I find the only solution with my coloured hair is to go a bit shorter than shoulder length, and have it cut often. Otherwise the ends do get dry and straw like, and no product can really prevent that.

I should have added though, my hair has always been fine and weak and a bit crap - there may be a better solution for those who started out with decent hair!

I have a collar length bob with all over layers i dont suit long hair never have.

I think long hair would be a faff i dont get why people pay for extensions.

I haven't coloured my hair in years but mine always feels like straw, until I started using L'Oréal Elvive Full Restore 5 repairing shampoo and conditioner. Now it's so soft and silky I can hardly believe it's my hair. Definitely worth a try, it's the one in the white bottle with the red writing.
