Cropped wide leg jeans on short round woman

Is it a runner? The short round woman is me. Definite apple, huge boobs. Around size 16/18. Have they worked on anyone similar? I keep seeing them on SM and ads and I love the look, but I'm afraid of the all-too-familiar heartache of trying them on.

It would depend on the top. However I suspect that it would need to be fitted which may accentuate the belly, but it's definitely worth trying.

I think you're right- looking at pics, they've all been styled with cropped or tucked-in things, which I'm not comfortable in. sigh Not for me then!!

Would a peplum top work do you think?

hazelnutlatte · 02/05/2024 18:30

I am a short round woman and can confirm they very much do not look good on me! I think they just emphasise the shortness and roundness!
I do find flared jeans look OK, have you tried those as an alternative?

SirChenjins · 02/05/2024 18:33

I’m short (5’ 1”, smaller dress size at 12) and cropped wide legged jeans do me no favours - they manage to both shorten and widen me yet further. I can get away (just) with full length wide legged jeans provided they’re not massively wide and I wear them with a tight or cropped top - but steer clear of the crop is my advice!

Cherryon · 02/05/2024 18:34

Wide leg trousers of any length are only good on tall people, unless you wear them under a long skirt.

jennyt82 · 02/05/2024 18:38

I have some from Next which I love, however I do only wear them with fitted tops tucked in otherwise they don't look right

DancingFerret · 02/05/2024 18:49

I'm short at not quite 5'1", not overweight, and the ones I tried on instantly added about a stone to the way I looked.

Vertically challenged women do seem to suffer with anything wide, anything with a large pattern, or just anything large, really.🤷‍♀️

...and don't get me started on M&S's so-called short trouser sizes - short/petite with a 29" inside leg. I wish.

minipie · 02/05/2024 18:59

I’m short 5’3 with especially short legs 🙄 I am slim and can wear cropped slim fit trousers (like chinos) or full length wide legs but definitely not cropped wide anything. And I do need to wear something cropped and fairly fitted on top with the wide legs, or else I look square.

saturnspinkhoop · 02/05/2024 19:34

I’m short too. I avoid cropped trousers full stop. have short legs and thick ankles and the short trousers just seem to make my legs look shorter.

SpaSpa · 02/05/2024 19:36

I’m five feet one, size 14 but with no tummy and I can confirm they look terrible.

N0tfinished · 03/05/2024 07:33

Thank you all. I suspected as much! I'll steer clear x

I'm a definite apple and 5 ft 4, and have found a few that work for me. Top at the moment are the fatface keswick jeans which come in a variety of lengths and are also quite high-waisted. I also have a pair of wide cords from seasalt, which I actually cut down myself as they looked better slightly cropped than full length. The key for me is not having swathes of trouser material around the waist, so jeans or similar work better than trousers - and a higher waist so that more tummy is covered. I don't wear them with tucked in tops but with relatively short jumpers/shirts.

lindyloo57 · 03/05/2024 13:01

I'm 5ft2 the only way I can get them to work is in the winter with long boots under

AnnieSF · 03/05/2024 13:40

Sometimes we have to accept that certain styles are not for us and this is one of them.

PragmaticDramatic · 03/05/2024 14:24

I wear them and I am shorter than you OP. I wear them most of the time with a slimmer top. I like them and I think I look good in them and therefore feel confident in them.

PragmaticDramatic · 03/05/2024 14:26

I wear them with Converse shoes/ boots and other flats.
