Hair dye newbie - please help!

I’ver never entered the exciting world of hair dye (except for the usual teenage pink/ red experiments), but my fine blonde hair is starting to go grey at the temples now I’m in my 40s.

I can’t afford to colour it at the hairdresser, so can anyone recommend a box dye that will get rid of greys without bleach? My hair is so fine I dont think it would cope with bleaching at all. I can’t go darker because I’ve seen people do that and as it grows out it looks as if your parting is balding!

I use loreal casting creme gloss. It's a semi permanent dye. I redo every 2 months.
