Please help me choose new hair style

Doing my head in now. It was short and spikey(ish) its now grown out and at a v awkward stage.
As its so thick it moults like a demon when it gets long and tbh I'm not sure its worth it for the effect long hair gives me anyway.
Think I may well go back short, but don't know what style would suit. Don't really want to go spikey again (I've done it to death) There are a few pics on my profile. Some advice very gratefully received.

This is what I am doing to my hair TODAY! I have similar hair and face shape to yours, grow it every few years then remember that it suits me sooo much better short so chop it all off again.
What do ya think?

Your chn are beautiful! I think it suits you long actually. Why don't you ask the hairdresser to layer it? I like Gwen's hair from Torchwood at the moment.

Slouchy - that is lovely. Love what the blurb says:-

cornsilk - thanks (looks can be deceiving tho!!They are currently little buggers challenges!!) The problem is at the mo it is neither long nor short. I have this big bushy thing going on. Don't know what to do with it in the meantime if I decide to grow it. Also as soon as it is long. It just goes in a ponytail - all the time (unless there is a camera opportunity - not often)

LOVE the second pic, though it is Proper Short.

mine is done - looks nice though too brown (highlights bit dust as it was chopped). Needs a bit of playing with too - it is a bit 'salon' at the mo. Good cut though.

I know what you mean about a bit 'salon'. I'm one of those who is straight to a car wing mirror and madly running fingers through hair to 'ruffle' it!! Hate being too 'done'. I'm the same with fashion type stuff - would never wear matching bag/shoes or something - would look far too polished!!
I'm very certain I want ruffled/layers. The fringe has to be short short - I get so irritated with hair in my eyes. Just need to decide on sides and back!!! That second one is great - but does she look like she has very fine hair to you? Mine is dead dead thick and may not play ball!!
Any more inspiration out there?
