Which way to wear this brooch?

It is my DMum's funeral on Friday and I am distracting myself from grief by thinking about the jewellery I will wear. She once gave me this beautiful opal brooch. I am going to wear a plain dark navy dress with a round neck. Should I pin the brooch horizontally or vertically? In the exact middle or on the side? Brooches often look a bit mad and random on me.

Which way to wear this brooch?

It is on a sheet in the photo, not the dress.

I would wear it horizontally. It's beautiful.

So sorry for your loss.

I wòuld wear it horizontal and left had side like you would wear a wedding flower. Sorry you lost your mum be brave.

I'm not sure there's a right or wrong way, but with this one, I'd go horizontally, but quite high up towards the shoulder. I'm sorry for your loss xx

I think the beauty of a simple, beautiful piece of jewellery like this is that you can wear it in so many ways. You could wear it vertical, horizonal or at a jaunty angle.

Given the occasion (I'm sorry for your loss), I'd wear it horizontally, over my heart.

It would also look lovely on the lapel of your coat.

Sorry for your loss, I think it's lovely you are going to wear the brooch your mum gave you. I think it would look lovely horizontal. I know what you mean about being a bit random, so any way would be fine, in memory of your Dmum.

It's a bar brooch (my great grandad was a jeweller and I have a couple of things) and for a funeral left hand side over the breast area. If you want to be formal. Horizontal.
It's lovely, I think it's a nice way to keep her close on the day.

Look at any pictures of Queen Elizabeth II for perfect brooch placement, she tended to have them quite high towards the shoulder.

Jaunty is something my dear late grandmother used to say and it always makes me smile when I hear it 😊

OP, horizontal and on the left. I'm really sorry for your loss and I hope your mum has a lovely send off x

Thank you all so much for your kind answers. I am going with horizontal on upper left. DMum adored the Queen so would love to think of her as an inspiration.

As above.

I’m sorry you’ve lost your mum. I hope it’s a beautiful service. I’m sure your mum would be touched by that gesture.
