What should I wear to a holy communion?

Any suggestions for something to wear to a holy communion next month in Ireland? I feel like I have summer clothes and winter clothes, but not much dressy spring clothes. I’m tall, about a size 10 and late 30s.

I’m happy to spend up to £300 if it’s something I can wear quite a lot (eg to work or over the summer), but if it’s something I’d only wear once or very occasionally, I’d rather it was more like £50-£100.

Following OP I'm in a similar position but a size 14. I've been looking at 8th sign but don't know if it's too dressy

It's my daughters first holy communion in a couple of weeks I am wearing a dress from coast,

I'm a practicing Catholic myself and so are my family were a mix of Irish and Scottish now living all over the place

I would say mid length dress shoulders covered not too tight

I suppose also after the church what's happening?

We're having a party in a local golf club so it's a bit more dressy whereas I went to one in England last year they had a bbq in the garden after I was very overdressed....

Is it your child or a relative/friend? For my ds (in Ireland) I wore a a navy dress, knee length pleated skirt, with a blazer. For my niece I wore black wide leg trousers and a fine knit jumper.

@CoCoBeeBee i’m not actually sure what is happening afterwards. I’ve been told there will be food, but not sure where! I’m assuming back at their house (but catered).

Trousers cardigan and nice top or trousers and blouse

@stayathomer I find this such a tricky outfit. I feel like I look like I’m at the office when I wear something like this. I know there are great trousers out there at the moment that don’t look office-y, but I have yet to find a pair for me. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to see them.

they probably do look officy!! I just find communions can go either way, the ones I’ve worn dresses to not many others did, and I’m not a dress person so trousers do the job! Oh I wore a skirt and top last time but I was told it was all too dark and I looked like Wednesday Addams among all the pale and pastel colours 😅
