Hello all,

https://www.next.co.uk/style/su237815/892892#892892

i am going to a dinner party and love this skirt and would like to wear it but unsure what too to wear. It’s a relaxed dinner but some ladies will be in dresses and men shirt and trousers. So I feel I have to be casual but also a bit smart.

please help me, I am rubbish with things like this. Thank you 🙏

Cashmere or merino fine knit, I’d get a slightly sloppy one that falls off one shoulder. Not too long in the body, let it sit at your waist or very just below otherwise I think it will look too casual. Uniqlo have some nice merino jumpers.

Silk or satin t-shirt shape top, either tuck in or loose if it’s not too long.

The skirt is fitted so don’t go tight on top as well.

As it’s a dinner party, your top half will be on show more than the skirt when sitting down, so something with impact will be best, which is why I thought about a shimmery silk top or luxury knit.

With cream I’d look for a colour like oyster, pale pink, or gold/champagne.

I’ve got a skirt that shape and length in faux leather and I wear that sort of top (albeit in black or jewel colours as the skirt is black).

You're brave wearing white to a dinner party, I'd go dark pattern on top to hide any food mishaps. Dyspraxia combined with big boobs means food decorated tops😁

Thank you much for these ideas. I really like the idea of a silk T shirt, I would worry Inqoild be too hot in Cashmere.

do you have any recommendations of where to buy a silk t shirt? I’m quite short so suit a low round neck. V neck t shirt rather than a high round neck, if that makes sense? Thank you so much for all your help xx

I think the previous suggestions of a softer, slouchier look is better than a button shirt

Not sure yet, I have black heels, navy satin high heel sandals, gold wedges or beige heels. Would prefer not to buy new shoes but I might need too xx

Yes, the Mango one is a great top OP - with your gold wedges (as it looks pale gold?)
