Laser hair removal (face)

Has anyone had laser hair removal on their face before? I saved up some money awhile ago as I've been desperate to have it for years, but initially I believed it was permanent and then after more research realised it is not. However, it's been getting me down so much recently that I think I'm willing to have it done anyway and pay for maintenance treatments now and then as I believe seems to be necessary.

Obviously I will approach some local places to discuss but has anyone here had it and any advice? I'm wondering things like:

  • How painful is it?
  • How often do you need to have maintenance sessions after the initial course?
  • How effective did you find it, particularly for the face?

I have fair skin and dark hair which I believe is the 'best' combination for it to be effective.

I use an at home IPL device for my face hair removal! It's safe anywhere below the nose area, so covers all of the bits I want sorting. It saved me a fortune versus the in clinic laser hair removal, and I like that I can do it when I want to. It's the Philips lumea and tbh I've never looked back!

I've had laser hair removal all over. Face, bikini line, legs, underarms. I had about 3 or 4 treatments for each area and its never come back, I get the odd one on my top lip and one or two stragglers between my eyebrows. It's been done for best part of 20 years. The trick is to have maximum gap between treatments so that you catch as many growing hairs each time. Yes it's a bit sharp and sometimes a bit sore for a couple of days but no big deal. Best thing I ever did
