Nails - have you tried them?

Have been seeing ads on Instagram for nails that stick on easily but with the texture of paper, trim into shape the they harden under the UV lamp. Has anyone tried these?

Funny you should post about this - I was looking at them, too! Ordinary nail polish peels off my nails in a couple of days no matter what I do. Hope someone can advise.

I have ordered some of these on a whim yesterday after finally caving to the multitude of sm ads.

They should be arriving soon, will update when I've tried them out!

I’ve recently used the ordinary stick on ones that you don’t put under a lamp after reading about them on here. They were really easy to do & lasted about two weeks before the edges started to lift. Some were a bit tricky to remove as the glue is strong though it did say use remover same as you would with gel nails but I didn’t bother, just peeled them off. These were the ones I got

Can they be clipped and filed?

No I only ordered them with the uv lamp yesterday so they haven't arrived yet

AGlinnerOfHope · 23/04/2024 19:53

I’m using lily and fox wraps at the moment. Only had them on a day, but with nail varnish on top I think they’ll last a couple of weeks or more. They’re about £3 a set.

DaxTornado · 23/04/2024 21:06

I like the holy grail nail wraps. I don't use the uv ones just a sticker with a bit of clear polish over the top. Still look really good at 7 days and thats after using a brillo pad with no gloves, gardening etc 😱one tiny chip. Once the sticker is on you trim it down and file. So you can file them.

Their remover works well.

Do they need hardening?
Have you got a link please?

So I need to have nails that are long to use these? Mine are stumpy and short and aid love to have a go at having nice nails, but don't have the funds for pricey nail visits.

Don't just pull the stick on ones off. I stupidly did that with my first set of lily and fox and destroyed my nails as they took the top layer off. Haven't used them again yet as my nails are still growing out the damage. I liked the wraps though so will use again and be much more gentle.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/04/2024 22:46

I use the Nailog ones from amazon. Not the cheapest, but they work well. Prep nail (with the included wipe thing), peel and stick the ones that best fit the size of your nail. I then cut them to approx the length I want, cure under the light and then file to finish off. They can last about a fortnight and help give my nails a bit more strength than normal nail polish would.

suki1964 · 23/04/2024 22:58

I use Sistaco reusables

They come is lots of shapes and sizes and are press ons. Im a server and easily get 10 days wear , usually more

The one downside is the site only shows whats in stock at that moment so you may look one week and theres loads of styles and colours, the next - barely anything

TheBell · 23/04/2024 23:26

I’ve used Holy Grail gel wraps - they were good. Didn’t use a lamp.

I would say your nails need to be long enough to have a free edge. The wraps are soft and you use a file to trim off the excess- it folds aver the free edge comes off as you file.

It does give a bit of strength and support to the nails so they will grow better. Not as much as a gel nail, but I think they look better- less bulk.

SusanSHelit · 25/04/2024 16:46

So mine arrived today.

Were very easy to apply. Obviously standard nail prep applies - clean, cuticles trimmed etc. I used an orange stick to really get the edges nice and flush.

Then it's just like a thick sticker. You pick the right size for each nail, file it to size and cure under the uv lamp. I cured twice, because I felt it wasn't quite done after just one minute.

I cured a bit of off cut just on its own out of curiosity (the wraps are very long and my nails aren't). It gets quite hard but not totally inflexible, which is probably best so they shouldn't be brittle.

Off to do three 12 hour night shifts on a very busy hospital ward so shall keep updated on how well they hold up!
