Which colour jacket/cardi with this dress for a wedding?

It looks a little more teal than blue in real life.
Would white/cream work?
And what kind of style would you go for - cardigan, bolero, blazer, something else?

Short sleeve crochet cardigan that is cropped

idontlikealdi · 22/04/2024 19:21

That image has irrationally annoyed me. Why is she being all coquettish?!

Anyway I'd try and go with nothing if possible, boleros etc look ageing imo. If it's going to be cold id for a dress with some kind of sleeve

awrbc81 · 22/04/2024 19:23

Are the spots navy or black? Can't tell from photo, anyway I would go for that colour in a cropped jacket/cardi

KatyaKabanova · 22/04/2024 19:25

Not white and not a bolero. A pale blue or green long line loose jacket.
Oh and the picture irritates me too!

EnFlique · 22/04/2024 19:35

Oh yes the pose is odd. It’s not me 😂

Spots are black so a black loose fitting blazer?

Wedding is in Scotland and I have no idea what the weather will be like in a couple of weeks. I already have this dress and now trying to think whether I have something else suitable with sleeves.

I think you may find it's a bit cold for that dress. Do you have anything else in mind?
What's the venue?

I think you might be right…I can always hope! At least if there’s a sudden spell of lovely weather I’ll be sorted.

It’s an indoor venue, a hotel.

What kinds of materials are warm and weddingy?

I’m tall and a size 18 - would like to avoid anything too clingy & budget as low as possible if anyone has any ideas!

If it's warm that dress and a black blazer jacket would work.

Or a long sleeved dress.

Crapuscular · 22/04/2024 19:50

I'm probably being old fashioned but a gorgeous wrap would work with that dress.

InTheRainOnATrain · 22/04/2024 19:51

Black blazer would look great! And you can take it off for dancing. Perfect!

mathanxiety · 22/04/2024 19:58

Yes to a loose-fitting black blazer.

It's a lovely dress.

KatyaKabanova · 22/04/2024 20:02

If it's in a hotel you'll be warm enough. A kirk would be chilly!
You're lucky to be tall, you can carry off a lot of patterns. Do you want a thin strap dress like this one?

EnFlique · 22/04/2024 22:06

Thanks all, I’ll start looking for a blazer, but also open to dress suggestions - thin straps are ok, I have quite broad shoulders so the empire line seems to balance me out and I find it the most flattering style for me.

Not a black jacket for a wedding. I would get another dress, one with sleeves, so you have the option not to put something over it depending on weather. I don't think a cardi is suitable for a wedding.

EnFlique · 12/05/2024 11:32

Thank you all for the suggestions.
I bought a different lovely dress with sleeves and then last minute went back to the original choice as it was absolutely glorious!
