Is Clinique mascara any good?

My old trusty Lancome mascara has run out. It was about 274817 years old and brown-black which looked better on me as I am quite fair.

Now they don't do brown-black anymore, only brown, and not even that in waterproof!

So am in the market for a brown or brown-black mascara that won't slide. Clinique do one, but is their mascara generally any good? Tips welcome!

I find that Clinique high impact black mascara is amazing as it doesn't make my eyes sore & stays on all day.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 20/04/2024 17:05

Thanks! I may try it

Clinique high impact waterproof is the only mascara I have found that doesn't make my eyes itchy and doesn't budge even when I walk to work in the rain. I use their Take the Day Off remover which works a treat as well.

I've used it for years, recently tried a few others because it's so expensive but they're all rubbish. Going back to high impact

learieonthewildmoor · 20/04/2024 21:52

Clinique mascaras are great, love them. Only mascara that is both safe for my sensitive eyes and has oomph.

TurkeyonJoeysHead · 20/04/2024 22:16

Another vote for their high impact! It's the only one I've found that doesn't smudge, flake, clog and a tube really seems to last.

Gemstonebeach · 20/04/2024 22:20

Definitely get the waterproof one, I accidentally bought the non-waterproof high impact mascara and it shifts all over my face.

I’ve recently started using Clinique Lash Power in Dark Chocolate (black is too harsh on me) and it’s brilliant. It’s a tubing one and stays put all day, I’ve always had a problem with panda eyes after a couple of hours with other mascaras but there’s none of that with this even though just a quick wipe with a water soaked cotton wool pad cleans it off at bedtime.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 21/04/2024 10:17

Yes I love them!! They might seem a little "wet" at first, I wipe the wand with a tissue until the tube dries out a bit. In duty free you can find a box of 3 lash powers for the price of two.

Slightly off topic but what is it with the brands stopping the black brown. I too don't feel the black works for my skin and brown is not enough.

Christian dior does a decent one tok. I have really struggled with cruelty free brands though.

Snackpocket · 21/04/2024 10:21

I use Clinique chubby lash and it’s great, doesn’t clump and doesn’t end up under my eyes like some do.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/04/2024 20:46

Okay, you have all persuaded me! I will go for it and report back.

@Enko yes agreed! I am blue eyed with light skin and black just looks harsh and ageing on me.

Yes, I love the high impact, waterproof mascara. I don't wear make up every day so I'm no expert at applying but find it goes on really well and easily and looks good with no clumping. I'm also fair

It is quite depressing to find an innocent chat about mascara populated with AI-speak …

OP, any mascara is going to be better than the one carrying 274817 years worth of germs!

JulesJules · 08/01/2025 06:50

Yes, not the only thread it's on either. Have reported.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 08/01/2025 11:04

I got the Clinique High Impact for the same reason - love it, but beware the tube leaking - it's had to be quarantined in its own plastic bag so I don't have brown-black all over my other make-up!

Maybe mine's just a dud for that though.

Hi, how does this mascara compare to No7? I usually the No7 stay perfect one as I think the Clinique one is really expensive. I do use Clinique make up but buy cheaper mascara as you're supposed to replace it often.

Use both regularly and find them very comparable

I've only tried Clinique mascara once. It wasn't waterproof and despite being indoors and not doing anything out of the ordinary, I looked like a panda after a couple of hours.
I like Boots No 7 Stay Perfect, the tubing one.
