Can anyone find me a dress that is flattering?

I have a wedding to attend next month and having spent ages sorting dresses, suits shirts, shoes for children and hubby, I’m struggling to find a dress for myself. I’m 49, 5ft 7 and a size 16 with a pale complexion. I really want to find a dress that disguises my large tummy. I’m trying to find a midi length dress preferably with a v neck although not essential and short sleeves-sleeves are important. I avoid very pale colours as they tend to make me look very washed out and I tend to go for plain dresses as some of the patterned, floral styles I’ve bought in the past have made me look quite frumpy. I love floral patterns just struggle picking the right ones. I’m on a budget of up to approx £75 and would love a dress that makes me feel good and ideally one I can wear again. If you have any ideas of where I can find a flattering dress that does not draw attention to my tummy please let me know. I really want to look forward to the wedding and to stop stressing over finding a dress. Please help!

Thank you. Going to order this and give it a try. One of the reviews says it comes up small and has no stretch in it so really hoping it fits.

Have a look at the Eve dress from Boden. I haven't tried it yet but it looks like it could work.

Have a look at the outlet on ghost website. I ordered several dresses there recently on a whim and was pleasantly surprised - especially given the discounted prices. Quite a few v shapes, different sleeve lengths and bold plain colours and florals.
I find their sizing slightly on the generous size.
just avoid the satin ones are they will cling.

Any of the wrap dresses from Hope and Ivy are super flattering.
Also… (if you want to obv) get a tan, do your nails and maybe get your make up done? These are things I do when I’m not feeling overly confident. But mainly…enjoy yourself and be confident…I’m sure you will look beautiful ❤️

@Unitedthebest I love the Hope & Ivy dresses.
Have an event coming up and just wondering about sizing? Is it generous or better going up a size?

Really love this and would definitely get lots of wear afterwards too. How do you get a discount code for it, would love to try this one 🤞🏻

This in black is very flattering
Black
I’d be quite happy wearing black to a wedding, with contrasting accessories.
But there is also a maroony one, for a bargain £25!

Just seen this. Going to order it now. Really hoping it is as flattering as I’m hoping 😂 If it is, any ideas on shoes, sandals to go with it. I don’t mind a heel but not stiletto thin heels 🙈

Some of the Scamp and Dude dresses might work. They're super flattering and styled up they'd be wedding appropriate. Check out the sale page.

You are so right, have booked to have my hair done, and will get my nails done. Going to trial a few tans between now and the wedding too. Traveling the night before as the wedding is a few hours away so will end up doing my own make up. Just want to feel good and have a fabulous weekend celebrating with all my family. Need to find some good dancing shoes once I find the dress 💃

I find the sizing fine except the bust… if you have a larger chest I’d size up 😊

My go to is always 50s style midi tea dresses, I tend to get them from dolly and dotty here is the floral section https://www.dollyanddotty.co.uk/collections/1950s-floral-dresses?page=3

Also like British Retro and pretty kitty fashion.

Not sure if it's your style but just wanted to suggest it in case it fits what you are looking for 😊

Maybe try Fatface they have a few things in you could dress up for a wedding and easily wear afterwards they had some suggested wedding outfits (dresses and jumpsuits) on a reel on instagram, Scamp and Dude or JoiMoe they have them at John Lewis.
