I tried all sorts, even the expensive ones ie paige, seven, james etc.. none fit. smaller sizes too tight on thighs, larger too big on waist with a gape at the back. I don't like belts!! Is there any hope for me? I think not. All i can get to fit is baggy jeans which at 5ft tall make me look even shorter..
v down about my shape now. I guess I will have to diet....

pb, soounds just like me

im a size 14 and jeand just dont seem to fit at all, my legs are too wide and my waist cant hold on to them, if that makes sense

I live in belts and constant pulling up

BBBee · 31/03/2008 23:58

i have small waist and large hips.

size 16 thighs
size 12 waist

just don't wear jeans!

BBBee · 31/03/2008 23:58

btw this kind of figure has very good health indications as it means your body does not store fat round your organs.

paddingtonbear1 · 01/04/2008 10:04

BBB that's a good point, thank you!
I too am size 12 waist but probably 14 hips. Was talking to my friend and she says she has a similar problem, maybe there is a gap in the market here!

did you go to Gap and try their 'curvy' fit?

Oliveoil · 01/04/2008 10:06

have you been to Gap?

they have personal shoppers there

you can go in and say "go forth woman and find me some jeans" and they will scurry back and forth for you

emblestrembles · 01/04/2008 10:12

Gap "curvy" are fabulous.

I am 12 waist but 14 hips. They are so nice - best pair of jeans I have ever bought when no other would fit.

I actually bought a size 16 pair (US 12) then lost weight and bought another pair 30" waist.

Have had loads of compliments too. Do it!

PerkinWarbeck · 01/04/2008 10:15

uniqlo.

I am size 12 waist, size 16 arse with giant thunder thighs. Uniqlo jeans make me look - gasp - normal.

I noticed the one on Market St is gone , so I'm not sure where the nearest one is now.

Katisha · 01/04/2008 10:16

Ihave found temporary jeans salvation in Wallis (same problems - wide hips, relatively narrow waist, great gaping waistbands - who are these tree trunks that they design for?) Anyway - the Wallis ones are working execpt for the fact that they are too low slung for my liking and I have to wear extra long tops to compensate. I have long torso issues as well.

PerkinWarbeck · 01/04/2008 10:21

katisha - we must be twins! am also long of trunk, and 5'9" to boot, so constantly searching for long tops (Esprit a current fave but a bit too ££).

paddingtonbear1 · 01/04/2008 10:52

gap was about the only place I didn't try, I ran out of time! I've had their jeans before and they tended to go baggy - maybe the trick there would be to get a size which seems a bit tight when you buy. I didn't know they had a curvy fit! Sounds just the job. Will definitely try it!
I think uniqlo only have a store in London now. Could look online though!

Gap jeans do look best fresh out the wash IME - I try and co-ordinate the first day of wear with when I want to look best, then wear them progressively baggier.

emblestrembles · 01/04/2008 14:09

I bought my Gap jeans so I could only just get them on!
They are now an acceptable size on wearing though I may also have lost a bit more weight too.

a tenner? wow!
I will deffo go in gap, but for that price I might be tempted into new look. I never thought of going in, thought they catered for skinnier girls!

Try Levis if there is a good store near you. I used to have some sevens, but they didn't look quite right when I went to get another pair, and a really nice girl in Levis found me some fab jeans. They haven't gone baggy and they are really nicely cut.

I do also have some uniqlo jeans but they seem to sag within an hour or two of wearing

MrsBadger · 02/04/2008 09:03

New Look Hula jeans up to an 18 and in short (30" leg)

MamaG · 02/04/2008 09:04

ooh yes the new look hula jeans are GREAT

RainingCatsandDogs · 02/04/2008 18:39

I also agree, New Look Hula.I am also slim waist, big hips and these fit really well - no waist gap at all.I like the dark denim ones.Brilliant for £10.

paddingtonbear1 · 03/04/2008 10:15

quick update: went to gap last night, they said the nearest to the 'curvy' fit is the long and lean. Same problem though - the size that was OK over the thigh was way too big on the waist. The boot cut fit wasn't right either.
Tried New Look but they didn't have any shorter length in. Their jeans do look promising though, will try there again.
I went in the newly opened USC, and found the Miss Sixty Perkins and Bella jeans weren't bad at all. A bit ££ but not as much as Sevens etc.
I would need to shorten them though!
There is a Levis store in the centre not too far away so I might try there too.

Paddington, its worth remembering that sometimes you need to try several pairs of the same style of jean on until you get "the ones". I used to work at kendals and would regularly have women in for HOURS trying jeans on.

If Kendals still sell polo jeans it may be worth a look thru those, they are made for american women who are a different shape to us (apparently)

Also, are you trying high waisted or low waisted? hipster type jeans may be better for you if you are having issues of gape-age, although not so good if you tend to get builders cleavage when you squat

Levi's are usually good though ime. Miss 60 are ALWAYS long...as if everyone in the world has legs all the way to their neck

paddingtonbear1 · 03/04/2008 13:43

I am glad it's not just me who has problems. I was beginning to feel like some kind of freak!
Mainly I try for lower waisted, as I'm short waisted anyway. But then the gape is a problem...
I'd feel a bit silly trying on several pairs of the same style (same size as well)? Although it could make sense.. I guess individual pairs of the same size could still be a bit different!
I've not tried Levis for ages. I used to wear old 501s, but that was before dd - my shape has changed...

OP posts:
paddingtonbear1 · 03/04/2008 22:52

well - result! In the Levis shop I found some dark jeans, which aren't too baggy, but fit nice on the thigh/hips and fine on the waist. The very helpful guy got lots of pairs out for me till I found the right ones. wahey!
I also got some casual trousers from New look. I am happy.
dd has been away at PILs this week - she comes back tomorrow!

Yay! They seem to know what they're doing don't they. Glad you found something, it is exhausting shopping for jeans.

GrapefruitMoon · 04/04/2008 08:16

I'm a similar shape but taller and Gap Long&Lean are the best fit I've found so far...
