Perfume on a budget...that actually lasts

Goforit2000 · 18/04/2024 15:32

hi, I'm now on a budget for fragrance...would love to buy my usual - Chloe Nomade or Samsara Guerlain (although the change in formula has put me off buying for a while now), but they are just too pricey for me now...basically sandalwood, vanilla, florally, but not too sweet and girly, something mysterious, but not too 80s-style - and not expensive, and ideally one that actually lasts...would love some recommendations. I don't get the time to go out to the shops, so it's hard for me to try them on too.
Thanks

@Winter42 I have recently bought Zara Vetiver pamplemousse Eau de parfum. £25

HesterPrincess · 20/04/2024 20:16

I was recommended Calvin Klein Euphoria once on here, and was amazed by it's staying power. I got 100ml from Superdrug I think and it was under £50. It's perfect for work - has a woody/vanilla base with a lovely floral top note. I've had more compliments wearing it than anything else! I can often smell it on my cardigan or coat days after I've worn it.

northfacespacerace · 20/04/2024 20:16

Some of the Lush fragrances are lovely and they really last

Paloma Picasso edp. Well priced on Amazon. Lasts a very long time, and is sandalwoody, not too flowery and girlie.

Alchemistress · 20/04/2024 20:35

Another vote for Perfume Parlour. They have some really good niche scents as well as mainstream and high end.

Zara is fantastic. Their Ebony Wood and Waterlily Tea Dress are great. Also Sublime Epoque and Golden Decade. Very good dupes for Armani My way and YSL Libre

StridTheKiller · 20/04/2024 20:38

Next perfumes and Sol de Janeiro body sprays have amazing longevity as do Lush perfumes.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/04/2024 20:40

Primark do £8 knock offs of Jo Malone. I've been asked more than once am I wearing Jo Malone? It's called Collection Prive

SoapCollector · 20/04/2024 20:41

I can also recommend Aldi perfumes, I bought a Jo Malone dupe, lime basil and mandarin from Aldi, seems to last well on me. Also Lidl perfumes, Suddenly Madame Glamour, very much like Coco mademoiselle.

Try Zara. They sell perfumes in a range of sizes from £12.99

Try watching Coco Pebz videos on youtube to find out more about the sounds and how similar they smell to other perfumes.

Zara also sell a collection of perfumes designed by Jo Malone. I was worried that they were discontinued, but they have recently been relaunched in new packaging.

My current favourites which I will always repurchase:
Golden decade: smells very expensive and very much like YSL Libre. I have tried both to verify.
Hypnotic Vanilla: I'm nuts for this one right now. It's meant to smell like dior Hypnotic poison, but I cannot verify this myself
Fashionably London and Energetically New York, both by Jo Malone.

Some other big hitters from Zara are Rose Gourmand and Red Temptation, which I don't wear, but are very popular.

Perfume has become so expensive that I'm also having to look for cheaper alternatives that still make me feel good. I've now got maybe ten designer ones that I will always have on the go, but for everyday wear, you can't beat Zara.

A friend and I were in Zara recently and tried out some of their fragrances. They were really nice I would definitely try them though I have a few to use up first.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 20/04/2024 20:58

Agree, there's loads of nice perfumes in M&S if you have a decent one near you.

I use Karma by Lush which is also nice and not generic. Not cheap these days though. I think a big one is £60.

Possibly worth having a nose in TK Maxx too.

RichTea90 · 20/04/2024 22:07

Try Zara, their dupes are lovely, long lasting and good value for money x

Goforit2000 · 20/04/2024 22:39

@Alchemistress Which Zara fragrance is the dupe for Armani My Way - I randomly tried it the other day and really liked it, but it's too pricey. Thanks.

Savers have cheap older maybe 90s onwards perfumes some 100 MLS 20£ in offer pretty much constantly but you need to have a look, some pretty vintage some definitely re formulated 😎 CK Chanel and so on

Salt works have some gorgeous scents and they do a Discovery set for £29

I have bought perfume from here, they are all inspired by. So many people comment and ask what perfume I am wearing. I have bought a few different scents and all are lovely and long lasting

bohobabe · 21/04/2024 02:18

I am in love with the Lidl dupes. £5.99 an absolute bargain. Current favourite is Femelle which is a dupe of Lancôme's La Vie Est Belle. I have a little of the genuine article left and can't tell difference between the two for both scent and longevity. Also love Lidl's Chalou which is a dupe of the original Chloe fragrance. They don't come in stock very often but as soon as I see them in my local store I'm stockpiling for sure! xx

I can't personally vouch for this but this comes up on Instagram a lot. The best part is you can buy a 5ml bottle for £4.99 and it is on my list of things for my birthday. Plus bundles of the 5ml so 5 bottles for £20. There is a shipping cost but then free over £35.

I was coming on to say try Noted Aromas! Fantastic scents and they really last.

M&S do some fantastic fragrances in your budget. They have dupes as well as original scents.

I've just discovered the M&S fragrances - haven't bought one but was impressed with the staying power when I tested one. Definitely going to purchase.

BoobyDazzler · 21/04/2024 07:51

An absolute classic cheap perfume is SJP lovely. It costs about £15 and is my go to daily perfume.. I swear not a days goes by when I don’t get complimented on it and it really lasts.

A PP mentioned the Britney perfumes too - I adore the smell of these but don’t wear them myself because my young adult daughter does along with most of her friends 🤣

Othwise Perfimw Parlour is fantastic or you could try one of the perfume subscriptions services like Parfumado and try a different one every month for a £12 or so.

JenniferBooth · 28/04/2024 23:25

Well the longevity on the Aoura Pretty Woman that i bought two weeks ago mentioned upthread isnt great but for £2 i cant complain Original price was £15

theliesthelies · 28/04/2024 23:34

Check out Noted Aromas.

Their "fake" perfumes smell like the real thing and last well too
