Colour scheme for furnishings - teal or green?

I'm after some colour advice. We're redecorating our living room, and will be having chocolate brown leather sofas, light oak furniture, beige carpet, plain cream/magnolia walls.

I really like the summery pale green colourways that seem to be everywhere at the moment - see the JL Home Collection brochure here for an example - but will they go with chocolate brown? And how long will they be in for? And will it still look nice in the winter or is it just a summer thing?

Another option is teal - this, for example - which I am certain would go with everything and will look OK in winter and in summer, but it's been around for a while now, and I only want to use it if it's going to be in for a while longer.

Please come and give me your advise oh stylish MNers!

So is this for your cushions etc? If so have two colours,I have bright pink/blue covers that I got cheaply and I use those in the summer. My winter ones are teal and brown.

I am a cushion fiend though-much to dh's annoyance.

So if it's just cushions ,get the ones you really like as they can always be changed, providing you don't buy ridiculously £££ ones.

Matalan do lovely cheap ones ,as do tkmaxx

what ggirl said

we change the playroom cushions often (milk, vomit, mucky fingers, etc) -- dark brown leather sofa and neutral everything else

cushions currently pale green

in the past have had red and gold

teal insufficient contrast i'd say

a pale or bright colour needed to lift the neutrals

You have summer cushions and winter cushions?

brimfull · 31/03/2008 13:31

yes I do

Interesting thought ggirl. Yes, it's mainly for cushions. But also for pictures, vases, candles, curtains, etc.

I guess I could get everything else (accessories) in brown/beige and then just use the cushions as the colour, and then change those.

But for the green scheme, I really liked these Next curtains, and I couldn't afford to change these in winter and summer.

they're nice,quite neutral

I definitely don't change my curtains.
