M&S linen and summer wear

Firstly- does anyone know if they've sorted out the length issue from last year please, when they suddenly made things 3-4 inches longer than they normally were? Am I safe buying a regular length again?

And secondly- I've seen so many positive comments and links to M&S lately (that I believe are genuine, not just M&S staff being fake). Loads of these links are leading to linen dresses, skirts and tops, plain colours, interesting shapes but nothing too out there. Dresses in the £30-50 mark for natural materials.
Isn't it interesting that when they appear to do exactly as the feedback has been for years- give us good quality, simple basics, as the store used to- then they seem to be pleasing the market. Who would've thought it?

General thoughts for no reason there, wondered if it was just me thinking it, interested to hear others too 😊 no affiliation with them.

I bought some linen trousers in M&S yesterday and had to get short again. I'm 5'06" and I'm sure I used to buy regular length.

I liked M&S last year, for the first time ever. This year my local one has hardly any stock just a lot of open space and a few racks of clothes. So it's fairly pointless for me going into store and I'm reluctantly ordering online instead.

@MaryToft thanks!

@Princessfluffy my local stopped stocking any clothes whatsoever, so it's online only here now. I've checked stock for a few items in the next store about an hour away, as I'd happily go for a try on, but none are showing as in stock. I appreciate it's early in the spring/ summed season though.

I live near a large one. I have bought this for holidays. https://www.marksandspencer.com/linen-rich-square-neck-mini-shift-dress/p/clp60633540?color=NAVY&prevPage=srp#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r2c4

it’s okay. Just okay. I wanted a sun type dress and it’s fine for holiday. The fit is poor in many of the other dresses. Many are still too short for my liking and I am only 5’4”.

I still think there’s something about everything that just misses for me.

None of their swimwear fits me. I fit into Next bandeau swimwear no problem. They insist on putting cups in them. I have lost patience with them.

obvs having a meh day

I bought some linen trousers from M&S recently. I’m 170cm and the regular length was good, short was too short. Trousers were true to size / a smidge large and quality was good.

i didn’t see much else I liked in store but online looks more promising.

I bought linen crops and they are much longer than last year's ones.

I’d be interested if anyone has washed this year’s linen wide leg trousers. I bought 2 pairs last year and took them both back as they each shrunk in length. I was refunded without hesitation but I’m hoping not to have the same experience with this year’s offering.

I have two pairs, one cropped and one full length, I don't mind if they shrink a bit as a bit long on me but I'll let you know as I've not washed them yet.

I got a couple of different pairs of linen and cotton trousers in M&S this weekend. Lovely fit and cut, I am pleasantly surprised. I’m 5ft 6 and got regular length and they are great.

Whatismypasswordthen · 16/04/2024 20:37

It's not linen though, is it? It's 'linen rich' so a mix with some linen. That's why the prices seem reasonable but it's enough to put me off - won't hang like real linen.

Me too with linen trousers - had to return the Regular for the Short, which are a really good length (29" Inside leg, 5' 6")
