To buy or not to buy, that is the question.

Re What OWW said about the magnetic clasp - the older ones have a (much nicer) tie fastening so you dont have to worry about wiping your bank cards.

pootleflump · 31/03/2008 19:02

Have you decided yet Lynette?

DarrellRivers · 31/03/2008 19:28

Lynette, i have the tote and it is gorgeous.
v useful size, and hard wearing

emblestrembles · 31/03/2008 19:32

They look like 60s oilcloth table cloth material.

Is that part of the attractions?!

princessmel · 31/03/2008 19:36

I have 3 and love them.

I have a green huge one. And a red middle sized one. And a over body sling one. Neutral colour with blue down the middle.

Very practical and useful.

Where I live they are EVERYWHERE. Loads of mums have them.

I get mine in the Brick Lane sample sales. They have 2 a year. I get them as xmas or birthday pressies.

princessmel · 31/03/2008 19:40

If you look under 'past season' in the 'bags' link at the top, I have the grey stem print one with blue stems down the centre. It's in a sling style though. My green and red ones aren't there. they are similar to the ones on LC link though.
I loved the old pears design.

princessmel · 31/03/2008 19:41

I meant LS link not LC.

scampadoodle · 31/03/2008 19:48

I got an OK handbag 2 years ago. (I found out I was probably going to be made redundant so I went out & bought an expensive handbag in my lunch hour ) It was a midi sling, I think, anyway the strap is long enough to wear across my body. I love it & it has worn very well. Cost me £95. But soon after that the prices rocketed - the same size bag now costs £130 - & the last time I was in the shop I thought they were taking the piss a bit.

InTheseShoes · 31/03/2008 22:25

There is a 20% discount code in Red magazine this month for Orla Kiely on line - it's ORK57S - you can use it online, but if you're going to the shop you need to actually have the magazine with you.

Thought it might help if you were trying to decide, 20% is pretty good!

pootleflump · 01/04/2008 10:17

Wow thanks for the code, InTheseShoes. I just tried to use it but got all the way through to making the payment and there was nowhere to enter any codes. If anyone manages to use it - could you let me know where to enter it please.

nailpolish · 01/04/2008 10:22

i really like them

ingles2 · 01/04/2008 10:28

DH bought me the multi stem shoulder bag for Xmas and I love it, BUT it doesn't shut, it's got a rubbish magnetic clasp and I'm always worried someones gonna stick their hand in...

pootleflump · 01/04/2008 16:40

Re: the 20% discount code- it's only valid from 17-30 April. I emailed them to find out.

LynetteScavo · 01/04/2008 21:01

Thanks for the advice on 20% off.!!!

I'm now deciding between an Orla Kiely,

or this yellow leather bag

Really I want them both.

mitfordsisters · 01/04/2008 21:21

If you live near Greenwich or Camden market there is this excellent woman who makes gorgeous oilcloth loud print bags and much cheaper than Orla. Sadly they haven't got the catalogue online yet but have a look anyway - www.afxentiou.co.uk/.

I do not work in PR btw - I just love themm

expatinscotland · 01/04/2008 21:24

I really like that leather bag, Lynette!

But in 'Lawn' for me.

LynetteScavo · 01/04/2008 22:19

That bag is lovely, in every colour, expat.

Thanks for that link, mitford, sadly I'm nowhere near London, but that site is wild!

expatinscotland · 01/04/2008 22:32

I love the pink box bag, mitford!

Any idea of their prices?

Cool bags.

DarrellRivers · 02/04/2008 09:31

i agree, lovely spotty bag, and also love the mac, but think the two together might be too much

lynette, buy both, the beauty of my large orla kiely carrier is that is large enough to put loads of crap in, like my lunch, and my paperwork for work, or jumpers and snacks for the DCs when we go out for the day.
Then a more formal handbag, for times when there is less crap to carry

my local shop, aspire , which sellsthe OK bags, had the carrier for £85 (rather than the £98 on the website)

mitfordsisters · 02/04/2008 09:52

they're about £40 i think

expatinscotland · 02/04/2008 16:46

i am consumed with bag envy .

pootleflump · 13/04/2008 09:24

Did you get one Lynette?

Bumperlicious · 13/04/2008 09:35

£126 for a yoga bag?

newgirl · 13/04/2008 18:24

mitford - those camden bags are fantastic - love them - thanks for the link!
