What to wear to the beach or to the pool?

I'm lost.

Last time I went abroad on a beach holiday I was 20, no children, had a figure and pert norks.
It was short shorts and bikini tops all the way.

those were the days.........

So what do you wear just to go down to the beach or if your going around the local town etc?
I need to find tankini's too.

I hate that word.

Roxy/Fat Face beachwear
or kaftans/ shirt dresses if you don't like the surfy look
sarongs are good for walking to the pool

I quite like the surfy look tbh.
I also love really girly stuff but with 3 kids its a bit impractical
