Help needed please. Ball in May and I don’t know what to wear

Have been invited to a ball in mid May. It’s black tie and I’m not sure what to wear. I’m a solid size 14 -5’6” pear shaped small waisted 53 year old with pale skin dark hair ( slightly greying) and blue eyes. I’ve looked in my wardrobe and anything I thought was suitable either doesn’t fit ( thanks menopause )or is very outdated. I don’t want to spend a fortune but could go up to £200. Anything polyester or very long makes me come out in a hot flush- which lots of dresses I’ve looked at seem to be. Any help would be very welcome 🙏🏻

For a ball, would usually go long dress even if black rather than white tie. Just a disclaimer because it's a "May Ball" that if it's at Oxford or Cambridge, they have slightly different white and black tie rules (I cannot even start to explain for women, it's just a thing...), so ask the person who you are going with for advice!

Try TKMaxx for dresses if you want to buy new, or otherwise, Vinted is a good bet.
