Estrid-are they any better than Gillette/wilkinson?!

I suffer from terrible shaving rash and have been using a men’s Wilkinson titanium and have found that the best of the ones I’ve tried. Just wondering if estrid might be worth a go, they’ve been popping up on my sponsored ads a lot lately.

Can’t answer based on empirical evidence but I absolutely hate companies that market unisex products to women and charge a pink tax/ overinflate their product costs because they think women will just … pay up.

A razor is a razor is a razor. Unless you have metal allergies.

VEET and waxing produce less irritation generally for me.

I’ve used estrid for a few years and I think they are great. The blades are good and cheaper than buying Venus or something in the shops. From what I remember they are similar to Gillette so not sure if that would help your shaving rash. Boots now stock them too if you wanted to try them.

Oh the pink tax thing is so annoying! I tried loads and just found the titanium blades seemed to help but that might not actually have anything to do with it - I do wonder if it’s nickel that I’m sensitive to though. I hadn’t realised boots do them now, will maybe give them a try from there thanks.

If you think you might have a nickel allergy I’d look for non nickel blades from whichever company was cheapest.

The company you mention did the really annoying jumping on the trans bandwagon stuff. I mean, I guess you can’t expect a hair removal company to reject gender norms like feminine people must be hairless and smooth, but … meh. turned me right off.

NoisyDachshunddd · 12/04/2024 20:38

I just looked on Amazon, you can get non nickel titanium blades for much cheaper than this Estrid lark.

one of my few gifts to my kids has been to take em round the supermarket pointing out the difference in price of products marketed specifically at women and men. Those women’s razors give me the absolute RAGE 😂😂

hazeydays14 · 12/04/2024 20:48

I found them to be exactly the same as any other razor to be honest! I have sensitive skin as well and still had irritation with estrid.

Foofedifiknow · 12/04/2024 21:08

bought DD an estrid - broke at weekend beyond repair - have had a Harry one for yrs no issues Think the estrid is poor quality

I'm using flamingo and really like them, bought a starter kit off Amazon
Was using FFS before and my legs are so much smoother!

KeeeeeepDancing · 13/04/2024 00:48

I find flamingo quite good too. Well designed and really smooth result

Think I’ll bin off the estrid idea-think I was drawn in by the holder for it that looks as though it would be handy for travelling! 🙈
