What trainers are trendy but also comfortable?

A few weeks ago I realise I only really have walking boots and dr martens, I mainly live in walking boots as I walk daily (dog walker) or I’m on my allotment. I’ve just had surgery so am not walking much at the moment so could do with some normal ish trainers. I always struggle finding comfortable trainers, I can’t wear flat trendy trainers like Nike air force or similar, have had mixed success with new balance (some comfy and others not so), I don’t really want anything too fancy and not too sporty looking, maybe something plain ish?

What trainers are people buying?

Following, I need some too that aren't running trainers!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 11/04/2024 15:44

No idea if they’re trendy but I love love love Mustangs.

So comfy.

I got some New Balance CT302's last year, and they're so comfortable.

I've got some hoff trainers that I find really comfy but I bought them because I liked the colours. Don't know if they're trendy. I ordered mine through M&S in case I needed to return.

I use arch-support insoles to make any trainers comfy. Would something like that help you? I do have quite narrow feet, so it works for me. I like Converse, so that probably means they'll be totally out very soon 😁

Adidas spezial are comfy!

I've been wearing Converse All Stars since I was 20 (20 years ago), and so have been in and out of fashion a few times. But I love them, they suit my wide Hobbit feet.

I bought some converse and they were fine for popping to the shop or whatever, but the first time I wore them walking around all day, I was in agony. I was on holiday and had to go and buy new shoes! I couldn't bear another day of trying to walk in them. So I personally wouldn't recommend them.

I don't know if they're trendy at all but DD bought some skechers with a memory foam insole and she says they're really comfy.

RunnyPaint · 11/04/2024 17:50

@ButternutSoup, yep, will keep wearing mine, too 😁

@EmpressSoleil, I would be the same without the insoles! I have a problem with the big toe joint on one foot, and arch support is important to my comfort.

I can’t get on with converse or Vans, which is a shame as I like the look of them, they really hurt the soles of my feet. I think I need something with a more cushioned sole and a bit of an arch.

@Lovemusic82
I bought some design your own chuck Taylor all stars converse in comfort and they are soooo comfortable... They have a squishy inner sole and are really cushioned. So at least some types are ok. I was worried they'd be uncomfortable so it was a pleasant surprise. Whereas some Primark copies left my feet and knees hurting.

My DD just got Adidas Campus and they are crazy comfy - she has firbidden me to get a pair though!
NB 327s are quite comfy.
Avoid Veja Horrible!!

Pillowfights · 11/04/2024 23:18

My most comfortable trainers are the NB 574's, I have them in a couple of colours & as they're a classic old style, they're not massively pricey.

Also fitflop trainers are worth a look
