The skirt is lovely the shirt is fine I don't think it's weddingy I have similar in grey and I'd just wear it on a night out.

gertrudemortimer · 08/04/2024 17:06

@Mrsjayy sorry, do you think the skirt with the cream one is acceptable for a wedding?

Yes I think its OK for a wedding would you be wearing a jacket with it ? Did you have a thread recently where you were asking about a dress ? If it was you I didn't reply but I prefer the dress.

ItLiterallyJustSaysFoldInTheCheese · 08/04/2024 17:39

Are you asking if cream would look right, or because you don't know about cream for a wedding?

The skirt is lovely btw.

A navy (or closest blue to the skirt background) would make it look more intentional as an outfit, and a bit less 'worky'.

Icehockeyflowers · 08/04/2024 17:51

The skirt is very nice. The tops in the photos are too everyday for a wedding.

quizzys · 08/04/2024 18:41

That skirt is very good on you. The top is far too "officey" for a wedding IMO.

I can't really see the lighter colour on the skirt, but I was thinking a silky silver grey top (not a shirt) and fuschia pink accessories would look nice.

You have a figure that could wear anything though, so maximise that potential!

This! You look fantastic.

@Mrsjayy yes that was me it was a ted baker dress unfortunately the dress had a malfunction at the zip or my life would be a whole lot simpler.

I seem to keep going for work wear I went to my mums to try stuff on and she said the same thing about the tops. I'm not sure if it will be possible to match the navy of the skirt with a top. I love the skirt, I feel more confident in it than the other outfits but it might need to go back. Just to make matters worse it's actually a two day wedding but I think I have the second day dress.

I don't think white or cream blocks are ok for a wedding (even though the style isn't bridal) and I don't think the shirt itself is wedding-y.

Cyclingmummy1 · 08/04/2024 21:16

In my view, it's not very weddingy, I'd wear those outfits for work.

But then I wear the dress I had for my brother's wedding for work. Though not with the pink suede shoes.

gertrudemortimer · 08/04/2024 21:23

I understand what people are saying about work but I'm a chef and I don't dress up so for me the outfits feel really formal. I've never worn heeled shoes, ever

Ah I'm sorry about that dress what a bummer. Have you tried tops rather than shirts to go with your skirt.

anon2022anon · 08/04/2024 21:59

I'd be tempted to try something like these, with a nice necklace (all from h&m website, I'm sure other nicer versions are about but first site I went to). Something fitted

That is a very pretty outfit, and fine for the ceremony. You could make it a bit more formal with a sleeveless silky top, and short blazer maybe?

this is a pretty blouse, and maybe a chanel style cream jacket:

This might make it a bit more formal. I really like the combo, though.

The blue dress is much better and more like a wedding outfit. You look lovely in the others but they are too officey.

aprilshoweers · 18/04/2024 19:05

Your blue dress is beautiful and you look lovely

AyrshireTryer · 18/04/2024 19:10

Love the blue dress. You look great in it.

gertrudemortimer · 18/04/2024 19:14

Oh thank god! Mumsnet approval Halo I thought when I tried it on it could be the one, I feel very comfortable in it and I don't need any wacky bras to wear it. I'd seen that dress so many times but the blue put me off, it reminds me a bit of the wives from handmaids tale but I'll try and remove that from my brain.

Agree with the others, white shirt outfit looked nice, but too corporate . The blue dress is suitable for a wedding and is very flattering on you .

Icehockeyflowers · 18/04/2024 21:43

It’s very nice and really suits you!
