Booking a face to face consultation for make up

Just looking for some hints and tips from wiser folk than me!
I am 52 and have 2 big weddings to go to this summer where I want to look my absolute best. I don’t wear lots of make up and so I am completely clueless about what to use and what would suit me.

I’ve decided to book a face to face consultation but I don’t know where to start with this. Do you choose a specific brand and book a consultation with a consultant using their products? Or can I go to a consultant that would use a range of products from different brands?

I can find places to go that do brand specific consultations e.g bobbi brown, but nowhere yet that seems to do ones using different products, near where I live. I wanted to try John Lewis but they don’t offer their service in London?! Any advice oh wise ones?

I did a Bobbi Brown consultation, Op. I got a really nice but natural look (like you in 50s) which is what I asked for.

Have you got a Space NK near you? They are not brand specific and always very helpful whenever I have wondered in like a rabbit in headlights.

If you buy absolutely everything they recommend then you would probably need to remortgage your house but if you ask they will write down all the products they have used so you can buy at a later time if you only have the budget for a few key items.

I want to do this and am clueless about it all too.
@Motnight how do you book a consultation with them? Do you just approach the counter and book for a different day? Or do they do them on the spot?

I phoned for the consultation which included them making me up. It was I think £50 but the fee is put towards anything that you buy from them.

@Motnight Thank you, that’s really good to know. I am very tempted to book a Bobbi Brown consultation now. I would really like to perfect that natural look!

@FizzyDucks Thank you too - yes I can get to one quite easily. Very tempted also to book a session with them as well. May need to just save up a few pennies beforehand as I am that person that buys everything!
