Buy new clothes after baby or wait?

I'm 35 and I've just had my first baby 3 months ago, I was a comfortable size 10/12 before and now I'm 2 stone heavier. I started to eat better 6 weeks ago and have lost 9lb. I am hoping to loose the rest over the next few months/by the end of the year hopefully, but none of my clothes really fit and to be honest I want to completely change my style and dress a bit more mature but also stay on trend. Part of me wants to go and buy a whole new wardrobe now, but then part of me thinks it would be silly to spend money when (hopefully) it's not going to fit me in a few months. But then theres always the possibility that I won't ever loose this weight 😩

I’d buy a couple of nice things in your current size. It’s important to feel good. Congratulations on your baby!

Go out and shop - buy a few summery wafty bits and a few essential basics
Buy a few more bits cheap from Vinted, from brands you've tried on in a size that fits you now
It's definitely best to have things that you feel confident in and fit you right now. You can always stick bits on Vinted or Ebay after you go down in sizes too.
You may find your shape has changed, rather than your weight, so even when you lose tbe weight your clothes may hang differently and you'll need new bits anyway

Buy a capsule wardrobe in your size now. You could sell the clothes later or have them taken in. Don't put your life on hold.

Agree with pps - buy some things now as you don't need to put your life on hold while you hope to lose weight.

You could also buy things which will work for you when you're a range of sizes iyswim. Wrap skirts, things with a bit of stretch or slightly oversized etc.

I hate the notion that you shouldn't buy anything while not at fighting weight. The stupid thing is that when someone who has been a size 16 all their adult life drops to a size 8 for a week and they're encouraged to buy loads of clothes! If someone gains weight for a short time, they're told they aren't allowed anything nice. Load of crap. You are allowed to enjoy clothes at any weight Smile
