My hair is so thin. What are my options?

I had it cut short for years, but then we moved, and I struggled to find anyone who could cut it well. Ended up resenting paying a fortune for a bad haircut every 6 weeks, so I stopped going and grew it out.

It is now shoulder length. Very very fine, straight and thin. The other day I thought I'd wear low bunches, but they were each the size of a standard HB pencil. Ridiculous.

What are my options?

Keep trying to find someone to cut it short and suck up the cost?

Put lots of effort into curling / styling it?

A perm?!

What about a halo or hair piece like some of the girls on tikok use? Do they really work? I've looked into it and they're bloody expensive.

It didn't use to bother me but it does now.

Well, it’s your own hair, and you’ve been saving the cost of a hairdresser for however long you’ve stopped going - so yes, in your shoes I’d consider a decent hairdresser a sensible use of money.

Has your hair always been thin? If not, you might want to investigate your diet. Perhaps there are nutrients you’re lacking.

One of my older relatives (who worries about thinning hair) has been using an LED hairbrush for a couple of months; it’s too early for a conclusive endorsement but she does seem to have slightly more and better hair. They’re not expensive, and quite fun to use. Probably worth a try.
