What to wear when going out

I’m stuck. I need some new clothes for going out. I’m talking casual informal supper and cocktails for birthday etc maybe on to some dancing

I’m mid forties, short, size ten but big tummy.
Usual style is jeans and a t shirt. Nothing frilly.
Im in the south west and it’s very casual down here so don’t want to look too dressed up. Just like I’ve made an effort.

any inspo appreciated

And tbh, it might be easier to ask some of the people you're going out with what they'll be wearing.

I usually go for dress and denim jacket (also South west).

A relaxed shirt or blouse with jeans
and a delicate necklace is my go to for a casual evening.

budget very much high street. Under £50 per item ideally
no idea on preferences really. I just have no idea. Just not all nails and fake eyelashes and pouty lips etc. not the TOWIE look at all
I usually go out to music festivals where I’d wear a band t shirt and a sequin skirt or some kind of fancy dress.

can’t really ask who I’m going out with as mainly men in their late forties and a couple of wives who are lovely but not the same shape as me and vastly different tastes or approaches to clothes (think some very alternative, some very tall and slim, some not interested in clothes at all).

Very versatile, worn them with trainers and teeshirt, boots and fine knit jumper as well as dressier with a silky top. It's basically a dressed up version of wide legged jeans and a top.
