looking for a great vitamin c serum

hello lovely ladies,

I am looking for a good vit c serum. also open to vit c enriched moisturisers. Happy to spend upto £200

I'm currently using clarins hydra essential day cream, multi active night cream, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serums couple of times each per week. also spf when going out

skin is not in a bad condition, but probably would benefit from addition of vit c to repair sun damage/dark spots

don't want to use retinol due to risk of skin cancer

I use Medik8 c-tetra and find it to be quite potent. I can always tell when I’ve been using it regularly. It’s not particularly nice to use but no effective vitamin c serum is. I always follow with factor 50 sunscreen.

PrimalLass · 30/03/2024 23:03

I'm using that one too. I hate the bottle and dropper though and spilled it everywhere today.

therealcookiemonster · 30/03/2024 23:05

thanks peeps. Will look into that one :-)

I use Sunday Riley ceo serum and moisturiser and it works well for me

EverybodysALebowski · 31/03/2024 08:50

Medik8 C-Tetra, agreed. Great stuff, and 20% off sales come around regularly at the usual sources.

You can get tiny dropper bottles on Amazon (or use a leftover sample-sized bottle). I decant a few ml at a time into the tiny bottle, saves me from dropping or spilling the big bottle - and if I do I've only lost a few ml, not the whole bottle.

Lordofmyflies · 31/03/2024 08:54

I just bought Medik8 C-tetra from Space NK as they have 20% off along with a retinol. Haven't used it yet but I did a bit of research and it came off highly rated by the independents.

Cornishtoddy · 31/03/2024 08:55

I use Geek and Gorgeous.

SpaDaysAreMyFave · 31/03/2024 09:00

I've been using La Roche Posay Pure Fit C and Sacrocylic acid and I love the glow I have after I use it. I then used Skin and Me's new Vit C and it has done nothing.

I was thinking of trying another, but it would have to beat the La Roche Posay.

Is it OK to use this in the morning if I am using Tret at night?

What does the Medik8 Vit C do to your skin?

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 31/03/2024 09:23

I just used Garnier and Simple ones - the only ones I saw in Boots. Are they rubbish?

SpttyMaldoon · 31/03/2024 09:26

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain I use the simple one too! 😂

Thrushhelp24 · 31/03/2024 09:27

I saw the pai one earlier. Looked promising.

BlackSwan · 31/03/2024 09:30

Best I've used is SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. It's very thin & goes well under moisturiser & sunscreen.
I've tried Medik8 Super C Ferulic but it made my skin sting also has a thicker texture I didn't like.

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain I use the simple one too! 😂

It seems to be fine for me.

Weelegs29 · 31/03/2024 09:38

Another vote for Medik8 C-tetra here. Only Vit C I've used so far that I've actually saw noticible results from. Nice enough smell and no Pilling when other products layered on top.

EverybodysALebowski · 31/03/2024 11:22

Agree with @BlackSwan that the Medik8 Super C Ferulic is a bit too much (at least it was for my skin) but the C-Tetra is much easier to tolerate. I certainly wouldn't start with the Super C Ferulic, even if you're used to the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic (which I was).

I love the Medik8 crystal retinal too (was on 3, now on 6). Good brand.

By coincidence, I've just bought both of these! My skin looks better already just for buying them 😂

Passmeaplacard · 31/03/2024 13:38

Another vote for Medik8 c-tetra, I use it every other day as it’s a little much for me daily. Gives my skin such a glow

IDontHateRainbows · 31/03/2024 13:59

Wow, maybe I will change from Sunday Riley to try the Medik8

therealcookiemonster · 31/03/2024 19:18

thank you so much for the great suggestions guys. I will start off trying the medic 8 tetra.

currently I only wear sunscreen if going outside (factor 50) and avoid exposure to direct sunlight. if I start the vit c, should I start wearing sunscreen indoors as well or is it enough to only wear it outside still?

I use the Medik8 retinal too. I like it. It's an expensive habit to get into.

SpaDaysAreMyFave · 31/03/2024 21:37

Anyone tried both Sunday Riley CEO and Medik8 Bit C?

If so, which would you pick out the two?

jeaux90 · 31/03/2024 21:38

Medik 8 definitely. Love their products

Girlintheframe · 31/03/2024 21:58

I used to use medik8 but tried farmacy beauty waterless vit c and it's been a game changer.
