Dress needed for christening - help needed

Family christening in church in 3 weeks time followed by party in church hall.
Weather is still quite cold so nothing too flimsy and as we have to travel the night before something that can withstand being packed would be great.
I'm 5'4 size 16 pear shaped with blond chin length bob.
I have a lovely knee length pink coat from Mango I can wear over the dress plus black ankle strap heels and a black handbag.
Reds, pinks and blues suit me, I like floral and knee length looks good on me.
Im on a tight budget so £50 would be my max.
Any suggestions ?

Unless you're a godparent, just wear what you'd normally wear to church. In my case, that would be jeans and a nice top. If you don't want to wear jeans, maybe a smart pair of black trousers

I have no actual suggestion, but roman is around that price. Available online, too x

I wouldn't wear heels etc (unless I did that everyday) to a church hall type christening. Sounds quite casual. Christenings often are ime

Seconded. I don't dress up for church on a normal Sunday so for a christening I would do the same. If you want to dress up a bit I'd go for a smart day at the office vibe rather than a wedding one.

I wore the same dress to both my DC's christenings. A purple, jersey, breastfeeding, wrap one. Nothing particularly fancy.

Tu at Sainsburys? lots of florals around ready for summer, with a coat you should be okay

A little over budget though

This is lovely, £10 over budget but I think the black background with pink print means you could wear it in the winter with boots...

Would go with coat.

I would wear flats or wedge heels btw, churches are notorious for grills on the floors plus lots of standing.

Ignore those saying don't dress up at all, my experience (I work for a church) is that many people dress like a wedding, not full on royal wedding or celeb hello one but certainly standard church or hotel type. Obviously we have no dress code, everyone is welcome but most do dress up for baptisms
