Capsule wardrobe for 9 day US trip - cabin bag only!

Your mission should you choose to accept it... help me plan a capsule wardrobe for a 9 day work trip in the US!

Requirements:

• has to all fit in hand luggage due to having to take internal flights every other day (I.e a small back pack and a cabin size wheelie)
• mix of client meetings and internal ones
• weekend sight seeing in a big city (likely Boston or NYC - never been to either)

It will be in mid May, travelling from the mid-West to the East Coast.

Have been to US before but less hectic trip and could take check in luggage, so naturally took the kitchen sink that is not an option!

Also - how the hell am I going to survive with a tiny plastic bag of liquids...?!?

No one has ever weighed my hand bag, but they have my rolling case, 10kg is the limit though some airlines it's 8kg, some only allow one bag too so you need to double check.

I was just looking at an email from Me & Em and thought about this thread. They have a couple of jersey dresses that looked like they’d be pretty versatile. These cropped trousers are also jersey but look smart enough for an office. I’d do one pair slim and cropped and one pair full length and wider. Both look good with trainers and flats - they had snakeprint loafers which I liked. A jacket that could be casual or smart and I’d add some t shirts. Clearly this is not small potatoes cost wise but I thought they would be inspiration for me if I was in your position ( which sadly I am not)

I'm debating if it's worth getting a carry on with a laptop pocket in the front rather than putting it in backpack. I will check out Issey Mikakie as well. This is all fab, lots of things I hadn't thought of, thank you.

Am seriously tempted to ditch my knickers!

Sorry if it's been mentioned, order toiletries from boots and get it delivered to be picked up from the airport boots. You'll have used it all before coming home, or just leave it. Have fun.
