Dress for christening and races

I’ve got a christening to go to next month and I’d also like a dress which I can wear eg to races (horses), saw this in a shop yesterday, it’s got sort of light metallic bits on it and is lined. What do we think? There’s also a pink version of this.

Yes it would ! It's a pretty dress. It's a dress that as a friend of mine would say "will take you anywhere". You can wear that to any daytime event which needs to be dressed up.

That's exactly what I was after. There are a couple of other dresses on their website which are nice too and similar to this, but this one I saw in a shop yesterday.

I could even wear it to a wedding I have (where the christening people aren't going to it) this summer (June).

Have you been racing ? If not, it’s usually a lot colder than you expect and there is not a lot of shelter ( unless it’s very hot, and then there is not much shade).

Ladies Day at York Races

Ladies Day

I'm assuming it's one of the dressy days the OP is thinking of rather than an ordinary meeting. Just from 2 posts I'm getting the impression that if on the day it's looking cold and overcast OP would be sensible enough to put a raincoat over her dress.

I definitely have been racing and in skimpier dresses than this! Not too hot or cold for me so far. I dress accordingly but it’ll be to Grand National and Derby so it could be either weather types.

Edited

Actually not decided on Ladies Day as I might be away then.

I would and have brought coverups including raincoats. English weather can be so changeable.

The neckline is horrible but the pattern is pretty

Yes this is what I was unsure about, neckline. But it’s a good price.

I didn't particularly notice the neckline ; looked again. I don't see anything wrong with it, far less that it's "horrible".

Thank you! I do have older dresses which if I do Ladies Day I’ll probably wear (sleeveless full skirt).

It is pretty but one of the photos makes it look as though it clings round the bum instead of floating? Worth trying it on to check. If it does cling, you could perhaps swap the lining for a separate anti-static slip.

It floated when I tried it on.

That's great, it's a lovely dress.
