What's going on with crotch lengths now?

I know the higher rise has been going strong for a while now, but season after season it seems to be getting higher. I am average proportions and 5'6.

I was in M&S today and every pair of jeans or trousers had the longest ever crotch I have seen in my life. Some of them were so long the bottom of the zipper began at my belly button. There is such a vast pile of fabric around my hips and bum that could do with losing a few inches - even an inch would make me so happy!

Earlier high rises used to feel much tidier and reasonable, kept you all snug and looked slimming. Now they're so bloody high there's a highway length strip from the rear pockets to my arse cheeks.

I don't want low rise, just something that I can tuck in to without the waist band inching to my boobs.

Please tell me someone has noticed this??? I saw tons of women happily perusing the racks as if this body stocking style of waist rise was all normal Shock

I agree completely.

Im also 5'6" and often find that waistbands meet my bra. I also agree that there just seems to be more material in the belly/hip area, creating a bulge/balloon effect in the mid section which makes me look pregnant.

Ive also noticed sizes getting bigger and bigger. Size 10 in H&M and M&S is now too big. Especially the waists.

I haven't been buying new for this reason for some time. I used to love buying clothes!
Everything looks badly made. Some sleeve attachments today in town actually shocked me, and I was already aware of shit quality. The sleeve attachments, if lied flat, would have filled 4/5ths of the length of the entire garment. I hope that makes sense, garment lingo and maths are not my strong point! In a large town I could not locate even one plain tshirt that wasn't peculiarly fucked up. Sorry for my french.

I am also not finding any better at higher end stores. Just oversized, elasticated, flumpy trousers and dresses with dreadful patterns.

I found this with leggings (sorry) last year at White Stuff. The assistants said they were good because they acted like control underwear up to my bra.

I did not buy any.

it doesn't feel as bad with leggings as they fit flush to your body and mature women rarely wear tucked in or cropped stuff with them. But trousers, especially summer linen ones are like air balloons at the waist.

Saw a gorgeous young woman in some on a video recently and she looked terrible. It doesn't matter what you loo like, your body type or age - it's all just piles of elasticated cheap crap.
I think this is the worst era for decent fitting clothes, but then a lot fo people find it comfy a nd that's fair enough. I love comfy clothes and could live in my PJ's....IF they had a flat, reasonable waist and rise. Chunky waists with masses of fabric are usually itchy and voluminous. It's crap right now.

OP, if you are finding waistbands “inching to your boobs, you are doing well. I’m finding so many waistbands which almost cover my boobs. It’s almost getting to the point that the need to wear a top will become redundant.

Why oh why?

Now digging summer dresses out of wardrobe thank goodness.

Ha! Try being 5.1"! I am so so sick of it. High waists are the bane of my life. And shops that claim to cater for 'petite' just don't seem to understand that the whole garment needs adjusting, not just the length of the trouser leg.

This is probably an age thing but I also don't think that high waists are more flattering and elongate the legs. In my opinion, legs can only be visually elongated via the hems. By increasing the trouser material around the bum, hips and belly, I think you're just highlighting that area and making look bigger.

And don't get me started on high waist and wide leg. FFS.

Same. 5ft.
They may shorten the leg but nothing else...i always look like ive got the biggest man tackle with these jeans...im a woman. Penis jeans ..so much fabric

And you won't escape this going up a notch.
Toast are even worse. I have the pull on cords and they are like Big Daddy's nappy.

haha, and penis jeans, from what i can see that would be one hefty bunch of tackle! Even Pyjamas from M&S have room for seven dicks. The waist is right and the length is good but the fabric overspill at the crotch is volume city arizona.

Totally agree! I have a short body and log legs so even tho I’m 5-6 most high rise look ridiculous on me & give me so much extra material there its very uncomfortable to sit down!
I’m wearing m&s lily in short and they aren’t too bad.
would also suggest trying some of the m&s wide leg trousers (not jeans).

Could prove to be a fun night 😀!

I’ve got long body, short legs but all this high rise still doesn’t work. It’s like I’m being eaten by the jeans. You’d think they’d want to save money and use less fabric. It can also be hard to tell online where the rise falls and obviously that measurement is never listed. No wonder people find it so hard to buy jeans.
