Reported on Sky earlier :

Sadly looks like we're about to lose another high street store following yet another private equity deal..obviously this is awful news for anyone whose job may be at risk.

A quick heads up though that If you have any returns to make or vouchers to use, I'd be getting a returns number pronto or nipping to a store to spend the voucher. Some customers were seriously out of pocket following Matches recent collapse for these reasons.

:-(

Hundreds of jobs at risk as Ted Baker calls in administrators

The fashion retailer has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators weeks after a licensing partnership was abandoned, Sky News understands.

What perfume am I going to wear now?😢

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 19/03/2024 15:27

This is sad news. I love Ted Baker as affordable designer.

MorrisZapp · 19/03/2024 15:40

Such fond memories of shopping there when it was high quality construction, natural fibres etc. It's been plastic and polyester for years now, it's just another once loved name cheapened by plummeting standards.

NavyPeer · 19/03/2024 15:42

river island quality but three times the price- you need to have people willing to pay for it.

you lose your status as an aspirational brand once you start doing gift sets in Boots

same as Jack wills

ILoveSalmonSpread · 19/03/2024 15:44

This.

Toooldforthis36 · 19/03/2024 15:46

Sad for those whose jobs are at risk, though it was a shockingly overpriced brand, actually quite cheaply made clothing.

Agreed!

This is so random, I was just thinking this morning that I’m surprised Ted Baker are still going. Sad news though, I have had some lovely things from there over the years.

WhiteDigestives · 19/03/2024 16:09

That’s just taken me back to secondary school non-uniform days in 2002/3!
Ted Baker t-shirts were the absolute must have, I remember getting my first one and thinking I was so cool. 😌

It’s a shame but unsurprising based on some of the comments above. I haven’t shopped there in a long time.

Plump82 · 19/03/2024 16:30

Ive got quite a lot of bags from there over the years and they're all good quality. I'll be sad to see them go.

Candleabra · 19/03/2024 16:37

i just don’t feel their designs/patterns moved on from c2010. Highly patterned floral, thick silky fabric, rose gold metal and zips. I went to a lot of weddings round then and they (and coast) were THE go to shop for ladies wear.
Quality dropped off, prices went up (though they were never that affordable - but they lost their brand prestige).

CrushingOnRubies · 19/03/2024 16:53

Nooooo what am i going to buy dp now for Christmas and birthday La and j don't have any ideas. He really likes their smellies

FasterthanaButteredOtter · 19/03/2024 17:02

It's sad - I loved them about 10 years ago but dress much more casually now.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 19/03/2024 17:27

It’s sad that people will potentially lose their jobs because of this however I agree with others in terms of things being over priced for the quality.

theworldie · 19/03/2024 17:30

I’ve never understood who shops there/their demographic.

Everything from there has looked the same for years and years. Stiff, floral dresses with sticky out bits! Not one bit surprised it’s gone under.

KeeeeeepDancing · 19/03/2024 21:57

It might survive as a brand but in a different way. Maybe no stand alone shops. Just online perhaps.

SecondHandFurniture · 20/03/2024 07:03

I'm gutted. DH loves their shirts and jackets.

inkblackheart · 20/03/2024 07:05

They’re still going to be selling as a brand but online and in department stores. Just like Laura Ashley which went but is still very much still there as a brand

accentdusoleil · 20/03/2024 07:08

Bet Mike Ashley buys it and sells it out of sports direct and house of Fraser Confused

Good point

Raccaccoonie · 20/03/2024 07:53

The men's stuff has always been nice but the women's left me cold. Some nice coats perhaps.

Netaporter · 20/03/2024 08:28

@accentdusoleil exactly. Hence my point about using vouchers and returning items asap lest anyone faces the same issues that Matches customers currently have.
