Help me find the ultimate underwear for my party dress!

It won't be easy!

I need a lycra and concrete mix firm shapewear. I am size 16, 5'9" with a flabby tummy (cor I sound proper fit).

The dress is from Monsoon (but can't find it on the website before you ask). Is fuschia pink and brown with sequinned bits, silk, just below knee and halterneck, then empire-ish line under the boobs.

I reckon I need a long-line all-in-one with legs in but when I've bought similar items in the past (high waisted magic knickers) they ended up rolling down. I've read the reviews on figleaves about this as it's strapless but as I'm tall it seems the cups won't fit under my 38DD boobs.

Any other ideas?

trouble with the thing you linked too is that they have to fit your top and bottom which i think is impossible esp. ic you have given birth.

i went to a proper boutique underwear shop and got a bodywrap which is a make of magic knicker. you have to get them the right size. mine was great.

Spanx do ones that go from above the knee right up to under your boobs, and then you can wear a separate bra. I also think that there are cheaper versions of this. Figleaves are good for this, so I am sure you will find something useful on there. I am nearly 5 ft 10 and I can wear all the figleaves stuff.

is it only stomach? how about a corset thing like this

Moomin · 27/03/2008 09:32

The only thing that would stop me going for the corset is that it might be a bit bulky under the silk? I will carry on trawling figleaves, though. Ta

my friend's got one which isn't as lumpy, it is more like very stretchy thick lycra.

fishie · 27/03/2008 09:48

sorry don't konw the make, not on figleaves though.

Ah that's worth knowing.
thank you
